I think the hetas observe human families and Want, and they Want a lot of things and Want to have that closeness that family has... so they do a lot of pretending and projecting.
The want looks different to what one might expect though
Missing SOMETHING that makes it tick... so everyone is family and no one is family... nothing is real or when they are real the lines are so blurred and crossed it might as well be dissolved

Hetalia "found family" and forcible adoption is so fascinating to me as forcible adoption is a colonial tactic and yet its kind of lumped under the term "found family" bc people arent too aware of what adoption really is...
I think about what the nations make of Brotherhood in hetaverse and its interesting to note that they seem to think family is equated with power and leadership and conquest, being the big brother is a revered role, they look for colonies and call them little brother
basic ideals of family = ownership... 🤔
i think they shy away from using parental terms because thats too much, too hard, too painful and they know theres connotations to parenthood that they cannot have, why not just go a step down and stake their claim as brothers of nations
All heta ships are to an extent problematic i dont see why one is worse than the other if youve lived for so very long, a lot of boundaries get crossed, a lot of lines drawn and passed, a lot of relationships form and break
I dont even believe the nations know what a family is - they have relations but some sort of facsimile of family like theyre not entirely sure of what it looks like but they want to pretend they know to fit in with human life
