Here’s how foreign companies can use powerful local businessmen and politically connected individuals to block African innovations and keep us dependent on imported technology.
Africa has the talent to build its own technology. But who benefits when we don’t?
Watch this video.
It’s hard for a young Kenyan without money or connections to succeed. Powerful players have built billion-shilling empires and political networks that can block newcomers with a single phone call. That’s why we struggle to build new factories and industries.
we have powerful ppl who have never invented anything, built tech, or created industries. Yet the scientists, engineers, and inventors capable of transforming our economies are rarely celebrated. We glorify power instead of innovation, then wonder why we depend on other nations
Did you know that in Kenya, some tenders are allegedly designed by preferred bidders to favour themselves?
This is how corruption kills innovation before it even gets a chance.
We must reform our procurement laws and give local inventors a fair chance! 🇰🇪
It’s sad that in Kenya people with the right connections become millionaires overnight, while those investing in factories creating jobs, and building real technology struggle to survive.
We reward middlemen and frustrate manufacturers, yet wonder why we are not industrializing.
Someone made over KSh 20 million during COVID without lifting a finger, while millions of Kenyans were struggling to survive.
We can shout “One term!” or “Two terms!” all we want, but the truth is, Kenya has a system problem, not just a leadership problem.
We keep exporting jobs our young people could do, then wonder why unemployment and gangs like the Sharp Boys are growing. We cannot keep empowering foreign industries while denying our youth opportunities and expect our country to prosper.
Africa has brilliant engineers, yet every year we lose them to other nations. We celebrate Africans working at Google, Apple, and Tesla, but who is building the next tech giant in Africa?
We export our brains and import the tech they help create.
time we had this talk openly
Power is temporary, positions are borrowed, and titles fade. Use your power to uplift others, not to oppress them. One day, the position will be gone, and all that will remain is how you treated people and the lives you touched. @teshmbaabu
To do business in Kenya, unless you have a rich father or a politician uncle, you must do business like a dead man because a dead man has nothing to lose.
Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Mistakes build experience, experience builds wisdom, and wisdom builds success.
Congratulations, Omama Academy! 🎉
We need more schools with this mindset education beyond exams, empowering kids to invent and build their future.
Excited to partner through Inventing School! Can’t wait to mentor and build with these young innovators. 🚀
