Midnight Network has had a busy few weeks since opening its mainnet to developers.
@MidnightNtwrk, the privacy chain backed by @IOGroup, has stacked up several milestones over the last 30 days.
Here are some key developments:
[Oct 5] Anyone can now deploy smart contracts on Midnight mainnet, no review needed.
[Oct 9] Cardano founder @IOHK_Charles predicted Midnight will grow bigger than Zcash.
[Oct 13] The Midnight Foundation became a founding member of the Quantum Alliance, a group of nine crypto firms building defenses against future quantum computers.
[Oct 27] Midnight passed 1 million total transactions, with daily activity up from about 130 to nearly 48,000 in a month.
[Oct 28] Midnight published a roadmap through early 2027, with NIGHT staking on the list.
midnight-3:native now trades at $0.0425, up 5.8% for the week and 6.4% over the last 24 hours.

Midnight stays green while most of the top 100 bleeds
midnight-3:native, the token of @MidnightNtwrk, climbed 8.2% over the past 24 hours to $0.04, the best showing in the top 100 by market cap on CoinGecko. It is trading at its daily high, while Bitcoin fell 4.8% and Ether dropped 4.2% in the same window.
The wider selloff followed Thursday’s record $6.3B hack at @binance, with the total crypto market cap sliding to around $2.7T. NIGHT now has a market cap of about $662M and ranks 89th.

Over eight post I broke down @MidnightNtwrk's roadmap, one track a day. Here's the one line I'm watching from each:
📌01 Institutional issuance: tokenized deposits. UK bank Monument plans to bring up to £250m of client deposits onto Midnight as tokens. (Q4 2026)
📌02 Confidential DeFi: private lending and private swaps. (Q4 2026)
📌03 Identity and disclosure: viewing keys for auditors and regulators. (Q1 2027)
📌04 Scale and sovereignty: NIGHT staking and community block production. (Q1 2027)
📌05 Cross-chain and dev growth: a Midnight MCP for AI coding tools. (Q1 2027)
📌06 Starstream: the runtime decision, tested on a mock ledger. (Q4 2026)
📌07 Nightstream: faster, smaller quantum-secure proofs. (Q4 2026)
Four of these are due in Q4 2026, three in Q1 2027. Q4 ends in about nine weeks, so that's the first checkpoint.

Quantum computers can't break the cryptography blockchains use today. The worry is that one day they might.
Track 7 of @MidnightNtwrk's roadmap is about being ready first. Midnight calls it Nightstream: securing applications against future threats.
Midnight's privacy runs on zero-knowledge proofs. The roadmap says proofs built to resist today's computers aren't guaranteed to resist tomorrow's, including quantum ones.
Nightstream is a proving system built on lattice math. Two of NIST's first three post-quantum standards are lattice-based too.
Q4 2026:
• Faster proof generation for quantum-secure proofs
• Smaller proofs: less bandwidth and storage
No Q1 2027 date yet.
And the GitHub repo is upfront about it: a research system, not production-ready, not yet audited.
It also links back to Track 6. Starstream is designed to run in a zkVM such as Nightstream.

Hey #Cardano !
I would like to share a project that we are working on with my team for the last couple of months.
It’s a fun onboarding tool for our ecosystem, with optional login for a Cardano wallet and future implementation for #MidnightPassport when it is live.
It is essentially a videogame, namely a real time PvP artillery game. Two players, trying to hit each other. Sounds simple, but it is addictive, competitive and unexpectedly fun!

You may recognise the competing characters. @hoskytoken vs @snek , while @IOHK_Charles is randomly throwing them upgrade crates.
There are a few modes:
- 1v1 for two players, locally on the same pc (keyboard & gamepad)
- Host/Join rooms for playing against your friend.
And… (drum roll)
- 5 day tournaments, aligned with the Cardano epochs. 2ADA entry fee, winner takes it all (-0.5 ADA for server cost). A player logs in with their wallet through the website (top right corner), links his game with an 8 digit code and chooses Hosky or Snek Team for the entire epoch. After that, at PLAY/RANKED, the system pairs the competing players and two rankings are formed: individual ranking and team ranking. Glicko-2 ranking system is used for personal ranking.
We have tested the game thoroughly and any major bugs are already identified and fixed. So I definitely suggest you try it yourselves.
We have long term plans on how to proceed with the project but any feedback or ideas will be much appreciated, since our roadmap is somewhat flexible. For example, now that we saw that Nike and Crawju were officially introduced in the @MidnightCitySim , we are thinking of adding these two characters in the game (or our next one).

The Hot Topic: Nightframes
1/ Smart contracts are public by design. Great for trust, bad for anything private, like an agent's trading strategy.
2/ Nightframes sit in the middle: private computers that follow your intent, with work you can check. Private by default, verifiable by design.
3/ That unlocks renting. A developer keeps their strategy private, my agent rents it per task inside the limits I set, and nobody can trade ahead of it.
4/ What I need proven:
