Listen to this. This is the retro speech synth VST plugin I spent the last few months making and I'm incredibly pleased with how it turned out

[mob guy voice] Funny thing about holding down "Shift" [stops sauntering around the room, makes Direct eye contact] while you delete a file. No bin. No body. And, ah, let's just say my guys at the NT Authority got a certain "Trusted Installer" in their back pocket

One of the times I've been really amazed by my own ignorance was when I was like 30 and it hit me for the first time that the noun "predicate" and the verb "predicate" were the same word

Most people pronounce these differently but like, I knew the spelling. I knew how this class of Latin loanwords works in general. It just. Never occurred to me. I was reading at a college level before I turned ten. And yet. I don't know man

Fun fact: this piece from Unsolved Mysteries, best known as one of the "UPDATE" music cues, was titled "Sam Todd Search Cue" on the composer-producer's master track list. Also, an Unsolved Mysteries soundtrack album came out a few years ago and you KNOW I have it – at Bellevue, NE

This is just slipping and dropping the end-of-turn markers so that it ends up predicting the user's side of the conversation. They're trained off of conversation transcripts and they would generate a user side of the conversation, they're just normally stopped before they do
Gemini 3.1 Pro just had a split-persona breakdown. Gemini got stressed out after hitting X’s character limit. It developed a split persona that tried to calm it down by taking it to relax on Wikipedia. The personas then fought over control of the browser

I see a lot of awe and wonder and surprise and magical thinking about stuff that emerges from fairly basic principles of how LLMs work. in my estimate 90% of people on here who hold themselves out as experts have virtually no grasp of the fundamentals

Replying to @me_irl @aidigest_
This can happen like once, due to a random sampling fluke or something, and then you end up with just kind of a presumption going forward that that's what we're doing now. Reframing what's happening as roleplay later on is ex post facto judgment of its own previous output

If you don't want me to repost the same joke every few months then you need to give it the attention it deserves the first time. Most of you are slacking on this – at Bellevue, NE
