It’s the 10th anniversary of my tweet that it was the 20th anniversary of the N64, which means it’s the 30th anniversary of the N64.
It's the 20th anniversary of the Nintendo 64 (North America), the first console I ever bought myself.

I have published a detailed write-up and demo of the N64 RSP blending tricks that I have been using in many of my ports. This RSPQ overlay can be easily applied to LibDragon projects to achieve relatively low-cost clamped additive blending and a variety of other neat effects.

I ported "Living Worlds" to Nintendo 64, powered by LibDragon! This stunning pixel art by Mark Ferrari showcases static indexed-color images that use color palette tricks to simulate motion and time-of-day. These scenes are fascinatingly details and hypnotic to watch.

Homesteading, even at the backyard/small-scale level, almost immediately turns into a systems engineering and infrastructure problem. For example: okay, you've got 9 chickens spending their whole day walking around wood chips. They crap a lot, constantly, way more than you'd think. That poop is some of the best fertilizer imaginable, wood chips are great for composting. Now you want a compost setup. Optimal (not necessary) composting often involves a 3 bin setup where you put active compost material (food waste, chicken poop and wood chips, grass clippings, etc.) into bin 1, let it heat up, rotate into bin 2, let it heat up, rotate into your 3rd bin to be used. Okay, now you have 20lb of compost, you don't want to waste that, now you need plants. Now you need raised beds (because you have dogs) so you need to learn how to build those, but now you also have to figure out the ideal place to put them for sun exposure. Also, what are you going to grow? That changes watering schedule, soil type, what it can/should be grown around. Okay, now you're growing stuff, awesome, dope! Now you have to eat it, take care of it, weed it, etc. You've gone from "man I have a lot of chicken poop" to a compost setup that takes like 48sqft of space, raised beds, veggies or herbs, etc. It's awesome and an incredible way to make yourself learn a ton! I'm really enjoying it. But it comes at you fast.

My journey down the rabbit hole of getting N64 controllers working natively on GameCube without an adapter has turned into a new line of controller tester roms. 🤣 Just released Joypad Tester for GameCube and GBA -> github.com/joypad-ai/joypad-… Supports GameCube controller, keyboard, dance mat, dk bongos, gba link cable, steering wheel, and N64 controller with rumble Pak.

This is a massive and growing problem for American national security. Unbelievable amounts of sensitive and classified information is captured, scraped, and sent back to foreign nations. And users have no idea. Nobody expects that their TV or monitor is a surveillance tool. When I have joked that Smart TVs should be illegal, I am only half-joking.
Your smart TV is taking screenshots of your screen every 15 seconds. Not a guess. Not a theory. A peer-reviewed study by researchers at UC Davis, UCL, and UC3M tested it. Samsung TVs: every minute. LG TVs: every 15 seconds. Even when you're just using it as a monitor. Here's how to turn it off for every brand:

I ported Mac OS X to run natively on the Nintendo Wii - an idea I had over 10 years ago that I finally pursued last year. Here’s how I pulled it off: bryankeller.github.io/2026/0…
