The DUMBEST things about modern shoes They’re so dumb that I’ve dedicated my career to fixing them. Let’s break it down🧵

Has anyone worked with a CRO-expert that isn't dog shit and overpriced? Would really love to find one. Feel free to DM me :)

Just got the new @wydefootwear soma’s First impressions: - look great (for a barefoot shoe) - really comfy out the box - super wide like the other models They’re also grounded which is a nice bonus. Would recommend if you wanna switch to some more healthy footwear.

Mainstream newspaper in Sweden today announced that @wydefootwear is Sweden's fastest growing shoe brand. Not barefoot shoe brand. Not functional shoe brand. Shoe brand, period! We are just beginning, let's go!

How in the world has no one designed a toothbrush like this yet? You just sit down, it cleans all the teeth at once. @theNOBSdentist please make this and then take my money.

To be this nerdy when it comes to optimization and have zero clue about foot function is nuts We can fix you Bryan. Just say the word.
I'm 49, training to dunk. A new PR today: 365 lbs for 2 reps. I’m aiming for a ~35” vertical. At 180 lbs, I'll need a take off velocity of 14.5 ft/s in 0.2 seconds, to generate 585 lbs of force, and 11 kW of peak power. This lift helps build the raw maximal force ceiling.

The Landmine Shoulder Press: one of my favorite shoulder exercises, good for the shoulder and translates well to athletic strength.

Most men over 40 quit overhead pressing because of shoulder issues but the landmine press with a counterweight brings it back. - The angled arc suits stiff shoulders (no forcing a straight bar overhead + resistance curve is a lot less sheer). - The kettlebell in the other hand anchors your ribs down. - No lean-back, no flared ribs, and also no lower back tax. - Your core resists the side-bend every rep. - One side at a time, so the weak side can't hide. And that last point matters more than people think. Why? Because a barbell lets your strong side quietly carry the weak one for years, and the compensation it builds is usually what gets you hurt (not the load itself). Unilateral (one-arm) work finds the gap and closes it before it becomes a diagnosis. It's also just how your body actually operates. You walk, climb, carry and reach one side at a time, with your trunk fighting to stay level throughout. Training that way doesn't just build the pressing muscles, it rebuilds the coordination between them (which is the part that quietly disappears after 40).

Some nuance. Being able to run long distance is obviously very good for heart function and previously hunting. The problem is that in today’s society people are extremely dysfunctional in their bodies, sitting on chairs from early age with a sedentary lifestyle. Combine that with that most people run on hard, flat, man made surfaces with pointy toe box shoes, this will obviously be very hard on joints and maybe a net negative. However, if you’re functional and wear shoes that at least doesn’t destroy you, and mix up surfaces (road, trail), you should absolutely 100% run 60 minutes of zone 2 here and there.
Unpopular opinion: Running is an extremely unhealthy activity.

I feel an urge. Something deep. That tells me… That I want to fix running shoes. Maybe a sub brand to @wydefootwear and we recruit some fired up people to help. Should we do it?
