Another great reminder that Josh Howerton is a charlatan who trivializes Christianity, makes a mockery of Christ's Bride, and brings dishonor on the name of Christ. And no, it's not just because he used a ladder once.
We made a graphic, because there's few things that pastors love more than ladders in their sermon illustrations. :p

“Anyone who disagrees with me is a Pharisee” is an exhausting and effeminate response
The viral meltdown of folks over Howerton using a ladder as a sermon illustration is so dumb. I think it reveals envious hearts disguised as a concern over methods. It's exactly how religious leaders reacted to Jesus in his ministry. You wouldn't do it? Good. Don't. Simple as.

Interesting how John MacArthur, who had a very large following, a very large church (which continues on) served in the same pulpit for over 50 years yet drew people to his church by simply preaching the Word of God. Gimmicks are not needed when scripture is preached.

We owned two tricycle front end JDs like that. They turn ok at low speeds but they were made for row cropping. No tractor is doing to be great in that scenario but those are particularly bad. Best guess? He tried shifting going downhill & didn't know how quick a tractor out of gear & pulling weight will get away from you. Could also be it popped out of gear on him. Regardless, terrifying if you're pulling hay, let along humans. Just awful.
More than a dozen people were injured when a tractor pulling a hayride overturned in upstate New York, authorities said. abcnews.link/n61Afzk

Its just pure gaslight. NeoCons are incapable of owning their failures it appears.
Ben Shapiro assures his audience that the Iran War has nothing to do with Trump's falling poll numbers: "There's an op right now to pretend that the real reason for Pres. Trump's unpopularity is foreign policy—that is not true!"

It wasn’t very hard to predict this, sloppiest and most obvious narrative crafting imaginable, but I did predict it repeatedly
Ben Shapiro says Tucker Carlson and other Republicans who say Trump is a "tool of Israel" may cost the GOP the Senate. "If you say all of that and you drive down the polling numbers, you could cost Republicans the Senate!"

Dignified, respectful, and reverent. Those 3 attributes are significantly diminished in the current Christian Lord’s Day worship. It is a glad-handing social environment, people dressed haphazardly, children & women perambulating unescorted, all amid a cacophony.

Today, as I mulled this whole thing over, I thought of Paul saying that he did not try to win them or get their attention with clever oratory skills or tactics. In other words, he let the "plain, old, boring" teachings stand on their own merit. We should, too.

It's disconcerting how many semi-reasonable voices in evangelicalism don't see a problem with Ed Young's Rolls Royce or Josh Howerton's (and apparently everybody else's) ladders. Here's a 15 year-old post (from a nearly 20 year-old book) on why biblical preaching doesn't include props, and why what is disguised under the banner of "creativity" is often nothing but entertainment and gimmickry. It is not just the message of the Gospel that is foolish and offensive to the carnal mind; it is also the method God has ordained to deliver that message: preaching -- merely announcing and declaring that message as a herald. thecripplegate.com/orators-a…

The WCF uses the word, “somber” regarding a worship service. Not gloomy, but serious and weighty. Flippant stunt make Christ and His Church look foolish.

The third type of soil.
The consequences of the Finney > Schuler > Warren > Hybels > Stanley > Stetzer line of Big Church Products has been catastrophic. Record numbers apostatizing. Others heading to Rome and EO. They were never given anything but superficial Christianish entertainment. nitter.cf/merelyjwright/status/2…

People really don’t understand the real damage that Finney and the Second Great “Awakening” have done to people’s understanding and expression of “Christianity,” even to this very day.

QTing because evangelicals need to look square in the face at what the Finney to Stanley pipeline of attractional Big Box Mega Church "Christianity" has done to our people.
Boring. God's appointed means are boring. And I don't blame him a bit. Because he was groomed into this error by "pastors" who are accountable to God for what they did to him. nitter.cf/DPGBehler/status/21070…

If you want to know why the cringy ladder climber Megachurchers are worse than embarassing, here you go. It isn't just the clownish antics. They're actually preventing discipleship & warping the people who show up. 👇

This choices unavoidably teach those who consume it what is important & shapes their appetites and affections. The Lord gave us a book, songs, water, bread, and wine. These gimmicks, what they are inherently, cater to and cultivate the idea that those ordained elements are not enough, boring, and in need or human-wisdom ornamentation - all to the detriment of those shaped by the groups employing them.

My teenagers specifically asked to leave Lakepointe because they were tired of the entertainment-forward approach. They grew up at LP and were baptized at LP, and they got tired of the production. So, there's my answer.

One of the unarticulated dangers of this gimmick based approach is how it becomes a Substance Desert to the point many people end up in Rome or Constantinople because they're so desperate for anything that feels substantial & connected to historic Christianity. nitter.cf/dorothymag/status/2106…

I listened to the sermon. The sermon did not need a ladder at all. True too, one reason I went back to Catholism was Josh Howerton. I felt like he was preaching to 3rd graders. Have not regretted my decision.
