Toronto Xitter friends (those who remain): I'll be presenting a live-in-person talk for The Test Tribe here in town, November 27. Details at developsense.com/schedule/ba…
Sticking around long enough to mention these: Rapid Software Testing class -- Testers and Automation: Avoiding the Traps, Auckland, NZ, February 17-19, 2025. developsense.com/schedule/rs…
Rapid Software Testing class -- Testers and Automation: Avoiding the Traps, Wellington, NZ, February 24-26, 2025. developsense.com/schedule/rs… and a Rapid Software Testing Explored class, Christchurch, NZ, March 10-12, 2025. developsense.com/schedule/rs…
Today's bug in Twitter (although perhaps to Twitter, it's a feature): I go to my list of followers. I scroll down. I continue to scroll down a long way. After a while, I get "Something went wrong", and a retry button — but that's long before the end of the list.
Rapid Software Testing classes, live and in person, are coming back to Copenhagen. I'm grateful to those who spread the word!

If you're using an LLM to summarize something, you are very likely missing the real point of producing a summary. The point is not the artifact; it's to learn from the experience of creating it — and often to impart the fruits of that learning to others. developsense.com/blog/2024/0…
Want to see an example of real testing of a Large Language Model? You can get one here: developsense.com/blog/2024/0…

Structures in our societies, life, and work are structural, like a tree. When not maintained well, they start to rot.
Software bugs and problems are eating away our time and our productivity, like termites in a tree. When that starts happening, the rotting things fall over.
The City of Toronto, because of software, says that our home was vacant at some point in the previous year. No it wasn't. The software says that we owe $8000. No we don't, just like (apparently) thousands of other people who filled out the same forms and whose data was lost.
Rapid Software Testing Explored AND RST Focused: Automation are coming to Toronto, live and in person, at the end of May.

Cabin pressure?
Why is my television telling me that selecting the wrong video playback configuration setting could result in an unexpected loss in cabin pressure?
And if they're warning that something may happen, how is it unexpected?
😁

I'm just gonna say it
I don't give half as much a fuck about foreign interference as I do domestic
We just had the Premier of Ontario and the leader of CPC try to put their thumbs on the scale of the Toronto mayor's race
CPC are legendary for domestic election cheating/ fraud

When @iamdavidmiller became mayor, he had to use much of his first term gaining credibility that he as a "lefty" wouldn't wreck the place. Well, we've seen what the right did and there is no excuse for Olivia to dawdle on her program. If the right doesn't like it, tough.
Excellent summary!
1/2 My insights after visiting the tutorial of @michaelbolton about Measurements, Metrics and Magic numbers @esconfs
1⃣ Statisticians don't take responsibility
2⃣ Measure everything around
3⃣ But don't set any metric as a goal
4⃣ Numbers are nothing without proper interpretation
