Report on national suicide rate recorded by real-time surveillance shows no change. Why does this matter? Because of a belief out there that suicide is ⬆️. It isn’t. And because we are not seeing a fall. We should look to econ stress, alcohol & MH care to bring rates down.

Obama 🔥: "The president wasn't even mad about the Saddam Hussein comparison! That part didn't bother him. But he was very upset about the Cheesecake Factory comments. He took great umbrage. The mobilized a whole of government response to that joke! They told the Treasury Secretary to hold a press conference in front of the Cheesecake Factory. This really happened."

Imagine getting the Bakerloo line from New Cross Gate to Baker Street and walking to Lord's. Hopefully for the 2055 Ashes.

I think I admire Kane for broadly the same reasons I admire Joe Root: no ego, no bullshit, just a pure love of the game, deep commitment to constant technical improvement and representing the country the right way. We will miss them both so much when they're gone.

2 - Only two players from Europe’s top-five leagues have reached 70+ goals across club and country in a single season this century: Lionel Messi in 2011/12 (82 goals) Harry Kane in 2025/26 (73 goals) Virtuosos.

Actual, intentional, deliberate violence, force that could ruin a players career… But ooh a gentle insinuation of a movement of the head towards another player is immediate outrage and RED EVERY TIME
Just incase you missed it btw

Florian Wirtz created nine open-play chances today. The first player to create as many as nine in a Premier League game since Sadio Mané for Liverpool against Burnley in January 2021 (9) and first in an away match since Samir Nasri for Man City against Spurs in August 2011 (10).

In my experience, the academic clinical training programmes are desirable and work well. As an ACF I got a run through number into my chosen specialty, 25% protected research time that can be relatively flexibly incorporated into my job plan, and …

Football is hard to love right now. You wait 3 weeks for it to return, only to watch your side succumb due to a combination of injuries sustained on international duty, an inept refereeing performance and ultimately lose against a team that shouldn’t even be allowed to play.

Good to see an attempt to understand why highest suicide rates are in middle-aged men. What is driving this? Economic factors - highest rates began after 2008 recession. Alcohol - a policy blind spot for successive Govts. Physical ill-health, isolation, offenders.
Family breakdown and financial crises have changed the profile of those who are most likely to take their own lives thetimes.com/uk/healthcare/a…
