Jordan Graber bought GTM Design Club and saw firsthand that M&A isn’t just for giant, cash-rich companies.
For buyers, the right acquisition can mean gaining clients, systems, and talent in one move instead of growing one piece at a time.

AI is going to create an entire generation of insanely profitable 1–5 person companies.
We're already seeing small teams build stuff that would've required dozens of employees a few years ago.
Coding, design, marketing, support, sales, operations.
AI keeps giving founders more leverage across basically every part of the business.
If five people can eventually do what used to require 50, the economics get pretty wild.
Less payroll. Less management. Higher margins. Faster execution.
You could have tiny startups generating millions in profit with almost no organizational complexity.
And if you're the founder who owns most of it...
That's a pretty awesome business to build.

The best way to understand today’s deal market is to look at the buyers who actually moved.
What they bought, what gave them confidence, and how those deals came together show buyers what to look for and sellers what serious buyers respond to.

A 10 person company making $2M in profit might be one of the best businesses on earth.
Think about how awesome that setup is...
Small team with very little management.
Great margins.
Everyone probably knows exactly what they need to do.
And the founder has a ton of options.
Keep running it and collect the profits.
Reinvest and grow.
You could hire someone to run it.
Or eventually sell the business for millions.
Startup culture puts so much attention on building massive companies with 100s of employees.
But 10 great people building a company that spits off $2M a year sounds pretty damn successful to me.
I'd take that setup all day.

Startup culture has convinced founders that selling a company for $1 billion is somehow the goal. The math is kinda insane though..
In one study of more than 1000 seed funded startups, less than 1% became billion-dollar companies.
And even if you somehow get there, you probably don't own anywhere close to 100% anymore.
Carta data shows the median founding team owns around 56% after seed, 36% after Series A, and just 16% by Series C...
That's split across the entire founding team too!
Then you've got investors, employees, preferences, taxes and potentially a decade of your life spent building the thing.
Or...
You bootstrap a startup.
Own 80-100%.
Make it profitable.
Sell it for $3M-$5M.
Put a few million bucks in the bank and go live basically the same life most rich people live.
Nice house, vacations, great restaurants, invest your money, spend time with your family.
Build whatever you want next.
Maybe you're flying business instead of private.
And you probably skipped 90% of the stress required to chase that billion dollar outcome.
Building a unicorn is an incredible feat for sure.
But founders shouldn't feel like they need one to win.
A few million dollars, complete control of your time and the freedom to build whatever you want next is a pretty damn incredible outcome too.

Jordan Calderon grew StratDev 118% YoY, then asked whether someone with more experience could take the business further.
He knew what energized him most was building from zero to one, and that helped shape the decision to hand the business off and start again.
