This is the disabled car parking space outside Beech House this morning. For well over a year Unite Students has used it to store their bins. The building was constructed with a bin store inside. This is unacceptable from @UNITEGroup

While it’s excellent to spend time sorting out litter for #oxclean it can be disheartening to find big companies opting out. Unacceptable state outside Beech House this morning. @BrookesCLO - does your remit run to educating accommodation providers like @Unite_Student?

It’s not as bad as before, but Dorset House staff have reverted to leaving the bins in the disabled parking space rather than the inside store. Here Thurs 9pm, Fri 6am, Fri 8pm and Sat 10am. NB same bag of rubbish next to bins for 2 days.

After a summer where the bins were mostly put away at Beech House, with students back we have the bins out in the disabled parking back with rubbish strewn around them.

While people worry about the regulation of #AI, the UK HE regulator has launched its AI Helper. Providing a new service of writing limericks about the TEF, it is also salutary about the need to check and verify information that a bot offers you. moremeansbetter.wordpress.co…

This is a little embarrassing- the Guardian uses z scores. So the place at the top gets ‘100’ and everyone else is ranked against that.
NEW: Oxford University has been ranked first in the @Guardian University Guide 2027 🎓 We achieved an overall Guardian score of 100 in this year’s ranking.

OfS Register News: one new provider. European School of Economics is ‘Approved’ with no fee cap (it currently charges £28k or €28k depending if you are in London or one of 5 EU cities). Its degree courses are validated by Richmond.

OfS Register News: one fewer providers. In the big merger of the summer, Furness College joined Blackpool and The Flyde College. The counter now reads 428 providers even though there are 425 in the spreadsheet.

Mergers and acquisitions are big news in UK HE. Last week the OfS removed the old version of Regent’s University London from its register after it was acquired 6 years ago. A blog post on how mergers are treated strangely on the OfS register. moremeansbetter.wordpress.co…

Again the @RoyalMail service in East Oxford is failing to meet basic standards. Things sent first class - a slim package or a magazine - are taking over a week to arrive. Sensible companies now demonstrating this by putting their own posting date on to prove this.

The English HE regulatory system is requiring more providers to register with the OfS. They probably have 60 providers to process in the next two years. In the last year two new providers got on the register. This week’s blog: moremeansbetter.wordpress.co…
