‼️ Andy Haldane says reopening Britain’s relationship with Europe would create a “huge dust cloud of uncertainty”. But he’s confusing causing the damage with repairing it. Brexit created uncertainty bc Britain was dismantling its relationship with its largest market while nobody knew what would replace it. And then Brexit erected new trade barriers. The OBR still estimates those barriers will leave UK productivity 4% lower in the long run than if we’d remained. Removing barriers, restoring market access and giving businesses a clear route back towards European economic integration is not simply repeating 2016 in reverse. **Brexit created the problem. 🆘 Fixing Brexit is not another Brexit.**
"It would throw up a huge dust cloud of uncertainty." Former chief economist at the Bank of England Andy Haldane says reopening a debate about Brexit ‘would be a damaging thing'.

What genuinely astonishes me to the depths of my soul is the audacity and cynicism with which this blatant, undisguised corrupt collusion with the Kremlin is dressed up as an effort to “improve relations with Russia” and “end the war,” as if nobody can see or understand what is happening. nytimes.com/2026/10/27/us/po…

I saw no women being assaulted. I saw no nose picking. I saw no ear wax eating. I heard no stories about men’s asses. I heard no strange burping noises, no slurring, no moaning. And I heard no songs about homosexual hook ups at the local gym while an old fat man wearing makeup danced like he was wanking 2 giraffes. I didn’t see or hear any of that during Barack Obama’s speeches today. Just an adult speaking in complete sentences to an audience who appreciated every word. It was nice.

⏰ For six years since Britain left the Single Market, I’ve been waiting for a Prime Minister prepared to explain why we may have to go back in. Because of food security, energy security, investment, supply chains and national resilience. You cannot build a serious food-security strategy while putting permanent barriers between Britain and its largest neighbouring food market. You cannot talk about sovereignty while becoming more dependent on fragile global supply chains for food, fuel and fertiliser. And you cannot repair Brexit properly while refusing even to discuss the obligations that come with deeper European integration. At last we have a Prime Minister @andyburnham prepared to start giving the country some of the hard truths 👏 This conversation is long overdue.

Your annual reminder of how crap it is that our evenings are about to get plunged into darkness an hour earlier for the winter. It costs us more in energy bills and heightens seasonal blues. Let's keep GMT+1 all year.

There is a massive corruption scandal unfolding in the US, with top American executives abandoning a $25 billion gas project over allegations of secret Russian investment and control. All of this is happening just as the US administration moves to ease sanctions on Russia. It is exactly what it looks like: blatant corruption. An attempt to sell out Ukraine in exchange for lucrative deals out of pure greed. Meanwhile, it is Ukraine that continues to endure constant, baseless accusations supported by nothing. Madness.

Obama, "Iran didn't have nuclear weapons, because I put a deal in place that kept Iran from getting nukes, and I didn't have to fire a missile" My view: Obama’s point is hard to escape: Iran had no nuclear weapon because diplomacy had put limits on its programme. He didn’t need to launch missiles to get there. The 2015 nuclear deal imposed restrictions and inspections; Trump later withdrew from it, and now the US is paying for a war that has brought fresh danger and higher costs. Obama says the consequences are landing on ordinary people: oil and diesel are more expensive, and that feeds into the price of almost everything. The war has also left US bases and allies under attack, killed and wounded Americans, and used up missiles. Then came the Hegseth joke: while people face those consequences, the defence secretary seems preoccupied with his hair, jawlines and performing toughness. Diplomacy is not weakness. It is a way to protect people without sending them to war or making them pay for one.

I know everyone was talking about Zelenskyy’s interview on The Diary of a CEO yesterday, but I have to add my two cents. This was an absolute masterclass in political communication. Just think about the timing, the platform, and the audience. One of the world’s biggest podcasts, reaching millions of people, right ahead of the U.S. midterm elections. While Trump tries to blame Ukraine for rising fuel prices, Zelenskyy goes straight to an enormous international audience and challenges that narrative. Did anyone really think Trump was the only one who could make headlines every day, throw accusations around, and dictate the narrative? An information war as it is. Such a smart and powerful move. Whoever came up with this idea deserves a round of applause.

Poland’s Foreign Ministry Sikorski not only reminds Elon Musk that the USA haven’t been paying a cent to Ukraine in almost two years and in fact even benefited from the arms sales, but also schooled him that he is only damaging his brands when meddling in foreign countries.

I'm not surprised comments have been disabled for this post on LinkedIn What a post. Most people's wealth is tied up in their house and spare cash is a luxury for 90% of the population and those values are about to fall🤔
