The emergence of this technology has definitively changed BTC. It’s time for us to return to BTC, the main chain — to return to BTC, the timechain.

Bitcoin just verified a 48-bit multiplication on mainnet.
@laz1m0v put a 1,087-byte Tapscript through the mempool that confirmed the exact result of 1,003,519 × 2,002,943 = 2,009,991,356,417. No OP_MUL. No OP_CAT. No soft fork. Regular miners included it. The same approach also handled a state transition that updates a cell across transactions and binds future spends to the expected path, or a penalty leaf.
For years the default answer was that Bitcoin can’t do real computation without changing consensus or moving to a sidechain. These transactions show the opposite is already possible if you compile carefully against the actual TapScript rules that nodes run today. The witness gets bigger and the scripts are ugly, but the base layer already accepts them.
The compiler that produced these is called Complexity. Whether this stays a research curiosity or becomes something people actually use depends on how much further they can push it, but the “Bitcoin can’t do math” claim just got harder to defend.
bitcoin script hasn't had a multiply opcode since 2010
@laz1m0v built a compiler that does real math in plain tapscript anyway
with no soft fork and no new opcodes.
seriously clean work.
anyone into bitcoin script should give this a proper read

(soft) covenants are live on L1.
10 steps to understand #crc20.
1. bitcoin solved money. it's the best collateral on earth, but it just sits there. it never solved finance.
2. there is a liquidity paradox: to make ur btc work, u always had to give it away. a wrapper, an exchange, another chain.
3. every "btcfi" before took the coin off bitcoin. every time, someone else ended up holding the keys (we all know how that ends).
4. bitcoin made money honest. today, crc-20 makes it liquid. soft covenant is the core idea.
5. ur $btc goes into a vault: a taproot utxo, on L1, with time locks and spending paths bitcoin itself enforces (here, soft covenants).
6. from that vault u mint $axbt, a debt token backed by more $btc than it's worth (110% to 150%), with a (guarantee) term counted in blocks.
7. $axbt moves. swap it for $leaf. add liquidity to the pool. trade it. liquidate matured vaults. while ur $btc stays exactly where it is.
8. the yield: 1% swap fees to liquidity providers. and matured unpaid vaults go to whoever repays their debt.
9. every locked vault counts as tvl. $btc that was sleeping is now working. and u can verify every vault, every lp, every swap.
10. bitcoin where ur coins stay on L1, in ur own utxo, and still become liquid finance. none of it needed a fork. no new opcode. no consensus change.
let's grow (🌱)

@TimDraper , Zest lets users lock BTC in a vault and access assets on other chains.
#CRC20 aims to go a step further: bringing the entire DeFi mechanism directly onto Bitcoin L1.
BTC → Taproot vault → AXBT debt → $LEAF/AXBT AMM → on-chain liquidity.
Pre-signed exits. Taproot scripts. CSV timelocks. No new opcode. No soft fork.
Not just using Bitcoin as collateral for DeFi elsewhere, but building DeFi around BTC, directly on Bitcoin.
