If AI can help achieve no more emails and no more scheduling back-and-forth and more walks with friends and potential business partners, that would be a massive achievement.

I think we have rampant anthropomorphism and it is likely going to become a religion and we need to develop a movement that is anti-anthropomorphic.

AI is NOT a tool. I think the insistence that it is only a tool is actually a disservice to understanding what it is as a technology. The nature of AI as a technology is fundamentally different from any tool that we have invented before. So on one side, the pro-AI folks need to acknowledge something else is afoot. And on the other side, anti-AI folks need to acknowledge that humans do play a major role in how they are used, that humans are in the loop.

I’m actually impressed there’s not that much image/video misinformation despite amazing AI progress. I think it’s because we’ve all gotten into the habit of calling out AI-created content when we see it, especially if it matters. AI-created content gets called out pretty fast. Not saying there isn’t any. But most of the time when people think something is AI, it’s some stupid meme or candid thing that isn’t tied to any particular information campaign. It’s mostly frivolous dumb stuff that’s probably making the viewer dumber but not necessarily challenging or changing their world view or facts. This dynamic could change any moment but for now it seems emergent information vigilance is a strong deterrent to mass delusion.

Call me crazy but I do not find Trader Joe’s bags fashionable.

An incredible milestone by any measure. This era reminds me of Uber v Lyft, Groupon, early Amazon, and the Friendster v Facebook etc social era. It’s the same pattern. Tech companies with product-market fit raise enormous rounds to throw into marketing dollars and create an even bigger market. This is net-positive for their competitors too, which get to draft off of a growing pie. One difference is the network effects are so much more weak. Users are less loyal than ever and more distracted than ever. So for any company to capture a majority of mindshare likely pays off in many dividends. But as we saw with the previous eras of tech, it’s still unclear who the winner is. Being first or biggest is not a deciding factor for long-term dominance.

At this point, it’s irresponsible not to pay for both Claude and ChatGPT simultaneously.

When you click publish on social media, an AI should pop up and be like “oh wait, I found a few errors when I read your post”. Instead of writing for me, I just want it to proofread for me seamlessly and rapidly. I feel like this is something @Muse is very capable of doing.

Muse isn’t the sharpest tool in the tool shed but it’s like Forrest Gump. It keeps running and getting the job done.

As far as robots are concerned, I don’t see how we solve climate change and traverse the stars without drones and robots. Also, without drones and robots, it’s very likely that Ukraine would be Russia by now. So I’m definitely pro-robot.

Erin designed a necklace with AI and made a commercial with AI and then modeled it on the runway just a few hours later!
