Once upon a time I was a poor kid - a regular @MertonLibraries because I loved books.❤️On my 1st World Book Day I swapped a token for a book of my very own. It was a magical moment!✨Today I get to be the author of one of these books!🥳Happy reading!😃

Love this ‘book in a box’ based on Grandad’s garden 😍 🐉🐉
@andyjshepherd My little boy Adam has made grandad’s garden from “The Boy Who Grew Dragons” for his world book day book-in-a-box project. Thanks for the great stories that have sparked his imagination. x

My most treasured thing - a special drawing of Dogger, my favourite book. Lots of notes today about the beautiful reality of @ShirleyHughes_ stories and artwork. She captures the detail and joy of everyday life. Never underestimated and always appreciated.
For today’s #PassThePen, I’m talking about the very near future, because my new book, THE STORM SWIMMER, is out early next year! Set in a small down-at-heel seaside town, it’s about a British-Nigerian girl who has been sent there to live with her grandparents …
This book seeks to answer these questions: What does home mean? How do we change when we lose our home, even temporarily? What if ‘home’ was a place you rediscovered every day? #PassThePen #WorldBookDay #thelightningcatcher @worldbookdayuk @BookTrust
Thank you so much for reading my #PassThePen tweets, and I hope you’ve had a wonderful week of #WorldBookDay treats. I’m now going to leave @mkhanauthor in peace. Thanks again, Muhammad! Find out more about #WorldBookDay at worldbookday.co.uk

"I believe Tyger is my best book so far. I wanted to write a story even more exciting than Varjak Paw, and even more ambitious than Phoenix", @DFB_storyhouse has signed Tyger, a new tale from @whatSFSaid, with illustrations by @DaveMcKean! bit.ly/3IzQzRU

Happy World Book Day! For #PassThePen today, I’m delving into the books I loved as a child, starting with my most beloved Moomin books by Tove Jansson. MOOMINLAND MIDWINTER is about a hibernation that goes wrong

A WRINKLE IN TIME by Madeleine L’Engle also gave me that magical ‘this might really be true’ feeling. The science seed was sown in me long before I read this book, but Madeleine certainly nurtured it #PassThePen #WorldBookDay #thelightningcatcher @worldbookdayuk @BookTrust
I moved on to FLOWERS FOR ALGERNON by Daniel Keyes, which further inspired my love of science, futurism and philosophy #PassThePen #WorldBookDay #thelightningcatcher
