#Nepal 29 October 2026
#InstitutionalResilience
October 29 placed Nepal’s institutions under intense scrutiny. Chief Justice Manoj Sharma issued a categorical denial of allegations linking his name to purported transactions, while IGP Dan Bahadur Karki faced pressure amid concerns over police autonomy and political interference.
As Nepal’s Home Minister articulates India–Nepal cooperation in Indian media, the coming days will test Nepal’s institutional resilience.
The Nepal Bar Association rightly calls for a credible, independent investigation. Due process must prevail; institutional mechanisms must be allowed to take their course.
One hopes the RSP-led government under PM Balendra Shah will respect institutional independence and ensure the Executive does not interfere.
Reform strengthens democracy only when power remains accountable and institutions remain independent.

You are taking duality so much for granted, that you do not even notice it, while to me variety and diversity do not create separation. You imagine reality to stand apart from names and forms, while to me names and forms are the ever changing expressions of reality.

Mr. Musk, yes, no billionaire should dictate a nation’s policy - Indian or American.
India must welcome competition in satellite internet, from Indian and global providers, whoever offers the most practical and affordable last-mile solution for those in remote regions. In countries with lower per-capita incomes, satellite internet must be affordable too. High subscription fees and equipment costs risk putting it beyond the reach of ordinary households. Connectivity must bridge the digital divide, not create a new one.
India knows our networks and spectrum are strategic infrastructure, not merely commercial assets. India’s national security safeguards are non-negotiable.
Every country makes choices based on its own interests. Those in the West cannot preach free markets while practicing protectionism at home. USA imposed 100% tariffs on Chinese EVs to protect its domestic industry, just as India takes measures to protect its own domestic manufacturers. Both India and the US have restricted Huawei over security concerns. One cannot demand a level playing field from others only when it suits its own agenda.
Indians will internally debate, question and address our strengths and shortcomings as a democratic country.
Take BharatNet, India’s programme to bring broadband to village-level local bodies. We will question why, as the CAG’s 2026 audit report found, the programme is struggling to meet its original objectives. Why were only 33.2% of service-ready Gram Panchayats operational, despite ₹39,888 crore being spent? At the same time, we know to appreciate our telecom sector and regulations, which has made internet data among the world’s most affordable, bringing millions online.
India is a democracy, not a colony. We welcome the world, but we, the Indian people, will decide our own future - not Western vested interests, their double standards or any billionaire - Indian or American.

India on US VP Statement:
“We have also seen some comments in this context by the US Vice President. We believe that such descriptions are unwarranted and ignore the fact that Indian professionals in the United States are highly educated and skilled contributors to its economy and innovation ecosystem. Indeed, the history of the United States itself has been shaped by generations of immigrants whose labour, enterprise and innovation have contributed to its growth and prosperity. Resorting to terminology that carries painful historical and colonial legacy connotations is deeply offensive.”

#India In my latest #NationalSecurity #OpEd for @pGurus1 , I examine Starlink’s proposed entry into India through three lenses: connectivity vs dependence, sovereignty, and national security.
From Ukraine to the Dragon spacecraft episode and Iran, three Musk/Starlink cases raise critical questions about control, strategic leverage and sovereign autonomy.
India needs connectivity but never at the cost of strategic autonomy.

Miss you #RatanTata
2 years ago, India lost its Ratan.
No empire, no arrogance — only empathy. You taught us business isn't about owning more, it's about giving more.
From Nano to Taj, from TCS to Cancer Hospitals, you built Bharat with heart.
Rest in power, Sir. You will always be our Tata.

When I first met him, out of awe and awkwardness I fiddled with my hair. He slapped my hand away and said 'hero ki tarah Baal mat bana...tu actor hai'!
He didn't flatter you. He didn't tell you what you wanted to hear. He told you what you needed to hear. That was Nana. Straightforward. Rough, honest and had the most beautiful smile.
He always had a strange way of showing affection. He would shout at you first, and then somewhere between the third or fourth insult, you realised you were being hugged. He loved me and I loved him back.
He was a mentor, a teacher, a critic and a friend who beat me and everyone else around him in carrom game after game and relished his victories.
Nana your intensity, laughter , madness and love will always stay with us. I just wish we had time to have more conversations, another argument, another cup of tea and a game of carrom.
You have left a void not only in the world of cinema but in the hearts of all Indians and the world. All I can say is, I will miss you dearly and carry your words in my heart till the end of time....'hero banne ke chakar mein actor mat khona'
May your soul rest in peace Nana and Allah bless you. The Heavens will be blessed to have you... a masterful actor and an unbeatable carrom champion. Love you and miss you dearly!! Too soon my Hero Actor! RIP.
