I’d say ironically baby furs are what keep the fandom from going mainstream. Most people are not ready to have this conversation.
Baby furs are keeping the fandom weird enough that people just don’t come over and gentrify it.
Latex has already been gentrified like ooh I’m wearing latex I’m suchhhh a horny animal and then they take it off asap because they’re all lubey and they have to do the cleanup.
Oooh tie me up pwees but they take pictures in the con room and as soon as the camera is gone they ask to be untied.
But baby furs appear and all of these people who are kink/fandom tourists freak the fuck out and want them gone because they’re scared and ashamed.
Cringe is a powerful weapon against those who can’t accept that Furry is inherently a cringe thing and that’s ok I own it and most people should too.

I think if you can afford to reg you should but if you are only going to a con to hang out with your friends in a hotel room and party and you would be better off with the money that’s fine and you aren’t hurting anyone
