This is the government that is taking control of school boards with claims they can better manage our budgets - while locking out trustees without clear justification.

NEW: The Ontario government says its deficit for the current fiscal year is now expected to be $16.9B, up from the $13.8B it projected in its March budget, citing U.S. tariffs and higher oil prices #onpoli @globeandmail theglobeandmail.com/canada/a…

The anticipated excess mortality of prolonged hallway waits has been quantitated - the problem is that those who die are often old and sick and so who really cares? But framed in the context of that missed birthday, religious holiday, 75th wedding anniversary it matters. It matters to those who love them

The current situation is a farce and the Minister is only harming Ontario families who are being deprived of their elected representatives for absolutely no reason.

Premier Ford ran for office on a promise to eliminate hallway healthcare. Under his leadership it has only dramatically worsened. ER patients, families, nurses and doctors witness this daily. The Trillium shows us the actual data. By @AidanChamandy @Thetrilliumca

First of all there is limited to no care in that hallway. It’s just government sanctioned torture of the elderly, the frail and the vulnerable. Second. Doug Ford has promised on four occasions now to fix it and he has not delivered - nothing, nada, squat.

The misery in those hallways - the despair, the suffering, the blatant disregard for the sanctity of the person - I cannot forgive. He has promised us not once but four times that he was laser focused on solving the problem and he has achieved nothing. Disgraceful
NEW: We obtained internal government data showing Ontario’s hallway health care numbers hit unprecedented highs in the last two years, with over 2,000 patients treated in hallways on an average day last winter 🧵 thetrillium.ca/news/health/o…

If he keeps saying things like that, it will become impossible for Canadians to pay for their own drinks in any bar in the democratic world.

Abolish the Indian Act. We have nothing to lose but our chains.
We will, of course, need new legislation that is an interface between the Federal government and First Nations. And this MUST be created alongside Chiefs and First Nation governments every step of the way. But it is time to move past the era of this outdated, racist, and patriarchal legislation.
I support Prime Minister Carney’s work to position Canada as a global leader in human rights and democracy. The Indian Act is inconsistent with achieving that vision.
Our laws at home should reflect the values we champion around the world.
It’s time for a relationship with First Nations people that reflects who we are as Canadians today, recognizes nationhood, and lives up to the true nature of reconciliation.

Bay Ward lost its only indoor arena (Belltown Dome) due to lack of maintenance by the City. In 10 years 133 City facilities will reach end of life; 44 must close. Your 2.5% tax cap doesn't address the City's aging infrastructure.
I grew up in Bay Ward and spent many hours of my childhood in this park. The first stop on my tour of all 24 wards this weekend was a fantastic run through the area, right past the house where I grew up. Through my $10-billion infrastructure plan, we’re going to invest in parks and recreation spaces and protect and enhance our quality of life, which is rated number one in Canada. #24in48
#24en48

Parents and communities never asked to give up their say in how their public schools are governed.
Now, the Ford government is proposing rules that would leave newly elected trustees at eight supervised school boards waiting to be sworn in until provincial supervision ends. But there is no clear timeline.
Communities could cast their ballots, only to have their chosen representatives sidelined while provincial appointees continue making decisions about their schools.
Public education belongs to the public.
Parents, students and communities deserve accountable local representatives who can raise their concerns, question decisions and act on their behalf.
The Ford government must restore local decision-making and respect the voices of the people our schools serve.
