Black South Africans have a serious xenophobia/Afrophobia problem.

The people who voted have spoken, and I respect that.
But the housing crisis in Cape Town didnβt disappear on election day. Neither did the 500,000 families with nowhere to live, the apartheid spatial plan, or the gap between those who can afford to be here and those who canβt.
We ran on solutions - not slogans. Alongside candidates who share this fight for a fairer city, we pushed for affordable housing in well-located areas, dignified living conditions, and a City that builds inclusion instead of managing exclusion.
The result doesnβt change those realities.
It just means the work continues - in council, in communities, and next week.
The struggle for social and spatial justice in Cape Town is not over.

And this is not just about their own posts. Even if they come to your posts with their racist comments. Starve them of attention. You know where they stand no need trying to convince them. Only engage those who want to have genuine conversations.

The social media advice from the comrades in Brazil is still very important even after elections: DO NOT ENGAGE RIGHT WING ACCOUNTS. IGNORE.
Stop feeding the algorithm with right wing nonsense.
Letβs not contribute to South African society consuming right wing nonsense.

Tonight, a mosque hosted a Shabbat against genocide. Jews, Muslims and people of different backgrounds standing together for Palestine and humanity. This is who we are in South Africa.

Dan is cooked. You donβt need to cheer the DA for this framing to collapse in itself. Calling 32 years a βmonopolyβ thatβs only now ending suggests our democracy only became real once the ANC started losing.
This is a democracy thatβs endured recalled presidents, damning Commissions, TAC, #FeesMustFall, Marikana, July Unrests and the list goes on.
Our democracy has been fiercely contested from inside the movement, the courts and the streets the whole timeβ donβt you talk about that everyday?
Replying to @DanCorderOnAir
So
1. I wrote that the era of one-party dominance is over. Not controversial
2. I celebrated that our democracy is now competitive, meaning consequences, accountability for bad governance, corruption
3. I didn't celebrate right-wing parties. I never will. My politics are clear βοΈ
βDemocracyβ is when a White South African gets his way.
This is a textbook example of how we use comedy to normalise rape culture. The "Its just a joke" defense allows two rapists to literally joke about being rapists.

This really sums it up.
AOC says voting for Obama, the first black president ever, βchanged the worldβ.
Liberals celebrate war criminals.
Communists want to get rid of the system that produces them!
AOC: A note for Gen Z. If you want to understand millennial cringe, what you all call millennial cringe, this earnestness, imagine all the seats we flipped last night. That feeling, plus, on top of it, electing the first Black president ever. And on top of that, you did it the first time you ever voted. That hits generationally. Youβve been chasing that feeling ever since.
And because you did it the first time you ever voted, youβre like, βYeah, we can change the world. Why not? We did it the first time. Letβs just do it again.β

The beauty of democracy is that disliking the EFF is allowed. Disdain must, however, never venture into myth-making because (a) who was purged from the EFF to create a one-man band, and (b) why are we pretending not to know why Malema has struggled to grow his base?
