On this April Fools I remember when I got into biz school and my sister prank called me pretending to be Sheryl Sandberg. "Congratulating a handful of young women headed to my alma mater" And we spoke for 8 minutes. And I kept saying, "It's just so kind of you to reach out" 😐

I’m not Jewish, but there’s a reason that I’ve risked everything to speak up for the Jewish community. And when I say everything, I mean everything. I mean being blocked by friends that I grew up with, unfollowed by most friends and associates, accused of being a spy for the Mossad, IRGC, CIA etc, having my family accused of the same and having their lives put at risk to the extent of having to contact the FBI, being subjected to unthinkable smears, conspiracies, and rumors that are intended to blacklist me from everywhere and by everyone, but I still speak up despite it all, you know why? Because the same time that Jews had to watch their children being shot and kidnapped on October 7 Is the same time they had to watch half the world protest against the existence of their tiny Jewish state that is their only refuge from global genocide Is the same time they had to watch their friends, associates, celebrities, and the world’s body politic post paragliders in celebration of their massacre Is the same time they had to watch their synagogues go up in flames amid renewed pogroms in Europe Is the same time they had to be banned and blacklisted as persona non gratas of the world by trading the word “Jews” for “Zionists” Is the same time they had to be pushed back by human chains on college campuses and beaten unconscious for defying chants for their death Is the same time they had to watch a mentally ill rapper tell millions of his followers that he loves Hitler and supports the Holocaust Is the same time they had to watch the likes of Dan Bilzerian, Candace Owens, Jake Shields, and the rest of the “woke right” claim “Jewish supremacy” is the world’s biggest problem by citing obscure texts of the Talmud & claiming to “seek truth” while regurgitating antisemitic Soviet disinformation to justify their persecution Is the same time they had to watch the woke left claim that the victims of Islamist extremism deserved the October 7 horrors because their grandparents who fled Nazi Germany back to Palestine in refugee boats were actually “white colonizers” All while the world looks on and glibly asks, “what antisemitism?” That’s why I speak up. The most important thing I’ve realized is that nobody can take from you what doesn’t belong to them. They can silence, intimidate, threaten, and accuse you, but they can never take away the power of your voice when it bellows into the scorched earth the last hopeful, fragmented glimmers of truth. That belongs to you and nobody else, and in our lifetime, it may never be more important than now.

I wish the MTA had a Subway Wrapped at the end of the year--showing all the lines I took, the miles covered, the longest and shortest trips, suggesting where I should visit in NYC next, etc.

absolutely loved sitting down with not-just-any-other Molly for this. We talked vertical AI, Europe vs US: the showdown, software for hardware, and why "discovery bias" is one of the most dangerous biases a VC can have

Hersh is dead. He suffered a year in hell. The agony of an amputated hand. Then he was murdered by Hamas. I hope he knew how much his parents loved him. How their love for him inspired millions across the globe, it crossed party lines and social wars. We failed to save him💔

Btw I took a break from my maternity leave to write this piece while nursing an 11-week old baby and (semi-) potty training a 2.5yr old. Special thanks to @mjchiusano for holding down the fort

I think this does sometimes happen when VC partners suffer from what I call discovery bias (“I found it so I love it.” Or “my buddy introduced me so I love it”) But good firms avoid this tendency and enjoy a majority of their dealflow from associates. – at Brooklyn, NY
pitching an associate is detrimental and it’s the surest way to killing the investment opportunity. never pitch them. they are not mandated to make investments and don’t have the clout to push deals through. you play a game of telephone up through the org. for the record, i’ve been pitching associates for well over a decade. here’s the number of times i’ve found it helpful: ZERO.

The suffering of Palestinians in Gaza is real. Why not call on Hamas to release all hostages and agree to have its leaders leave Gaza. They could save Palestinians from paying a further price. Real support for Palestinians should produce such a call. Isn’t it time for that?

Listen to Sam Harris skillfully eviscerate the “both sides” argument in the Israel-Hamas war: “The boundary between antisemitism and generic moral stupidity is a little hard to discern, and I’m not sure it’s always important to find it. I’m not sure it matters why a person can’t distinguish between collateral damage in a neccessary war and conscious acts of genocidal sadism that are celebrated as religious sacrament by a death cult. Our streets have been filled with people literally tripping over themselves in their eagerness to demonstrate that they cannot distinguish between those who intentionally kill babies and those who inadvertently kill them — having taken great pains to avoid killing them — while defending themselves against the very people who have just intentionally tortured and killed innocent men, women, and yes, babies. And who are committed to doing this again at any opportunity, and are using their own innocent non-combatants as human shields. If you’re bothsidesing this situation, or worse, if you’re supporting the wrong side, if you’re waving the flag of people who murder non-combatants intentionally, killing parents in front of their children and children in front of their parents, burning people alive at a music festival devoted to peace, and decapitating others and dragging their dismembered bodies through the streets — all to shouts of ‘God is Great.’ If you’re recognizing the humanity of actual barbarians, while demonizing the people who worry about war crimes, and who drop leaflets and call cell phones for days, in an effort to get non-combatants to leave specific buildings before they are bombed, because those buildings sit on top of tunnels filled with genocidal lunatics, who again have just sedulously tortured and murdered families as though it were a religious sacrament, because for them it is a religious sacrament. If you have landed, proudly and sanctimoniously on the wrong side of this asymmetry, this vast gulf between savagery and civilization, while marching through the quad of an Ivy League university, wearing yoga pants. I’m not sure it matters that your moral confusion is due to the fact that you just happen to hate Jews — whether you’re an antisemite or just an apologist for atrocity is probably immaterial. The crucial point is that you are dangerously confused about the moral norms and political sympathies that make life in this world worth living. What is more, you don’t even care about what you think you care about, because you have failed to see that Hamas and Jihadists generally are the principal cause of all the misery and dysfunction we see, not just in Gaza but throughout the Muslim world.” youtu.be/oFBm8nQ2aBo

When I tell people children are being slaughtered, and they want to know which children before moving into outrage mode or justification mode - that mentality, that conditional humanity, is exactly the problem.

A heart wrenching article from my sister @CharlotteAlter
In post-Dobbs America, some girls can travel hours to get an abortion; some can't. This is the story of one of them. She was raped. The nearest abortion was nine hours away. Now, she's a mom. Soon, she'll start seventh grade. time.com/6303701/a-rape-in-m…
