I used to come from school and listen to this at full volume while lying on the floor.
Anyone know anything about the making of Guns of Navarone? Did they build the entire interior of the gun emplacement?

Horrifying
Leonas Stonkus, whose Nazi-led Lithuanian battalion shot the Jews of Kopyl in Belarus:
Interviewer: “Were they shot lying on the ground, or in the pits?”
Stonkus: “The women knelt, I think. The children were jumping about. They had no idea this was a death zone. [...] The children stood in front. Behind them, all were already shot. They did not realize their parents were dead. The older boys or girls understood. The little ones just carried on fooling around.”
Interviewer: “So how were the children driven to the pit?”
Stonkus: “The women led the children. The order was that a mother must not leave her child behind. You must take your child with you. If you don't have the child, give it to a neighbor to lead.”
Interviewer: “Mothers and children?”
Stonkus: “Together. They crammed them into that pit, one on top of another. No one paid any attention. They fired, and that was it.”
This comes from USHMM’s interviews with Lithuanian witnesses (Leonas Stonkus interview, 1998, RG-50.473.0023). English captions translated from USHMM's transcript of Stonkus’s Lithuanian. Cut and captioned by me.

Thanks to all who went to see the Ghosts movie this weekend and made it the UK’s number one film! We’re all so thrilled. Happy Halloween! X
Perfect Halloween gift. A beautifully put together collection of short stories about haunted objects. Here’s a sneak peek at my contribution featuring a haunted Ring doorbell…
Had a discussion on here recently about who could sing the Bond theme for my new 007, King Zero. I’m starting to think that Raye would be a great choice. Retro and contemporary at the same time. 1/2 price this week google.com/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChs…
Reading Michael Crichton’s Jurassic Park. original novel. He wrote a lot about man’s technological hubris like Westworld & The Andromeda Strain. The unforeseen consequences of science. Near future sci-fi. Would have definitely written a scary novel about AI had he lived longer
Some nonsense story here about the Traitors being inspired by a shipwreck and the survivors turning on each other. As if the game ‘Mafia’ had never been invented. Still a great show though theguardian.com/tv-and-radio…

AI, and in particular its videos making capabilities, seems to have taken all the joy out of the world.
