We’re grateful to the Lightcone Commons team, who’ve enabled a grant of $813k to support Mox.
With this generous support from funders, we’ll be able to expand our team, outfit a brand new events & daily workspace that’ll be open to the public (soon!!!), and continue to create a home for doers, experts, writers, and researchers in the heart of San Francisco.
We believe that brilliant, thoughtful people should have access to collaborative environments where they can learn from each other and do excellent work. As the world changes rapidly, we want to help it go well, by cultivating a community differentiated by its dedication to doing good in the world. Support from funders, evaluators, and the team at Lightcone Commons will allow us to continue being a resource for hundreds of people doing their best to shape a future in which everyone can flourish.
If you’ve never visited us before, check out the calendar on our website — we regularly host events in the realm of AI Safety, tech, and EA — and will be adding more events soon that explore what it means to live a good life. And if you haven’t visited in a while, come by, and tell us what you’d like to see more of from us. We want to make the most of the breathing room & bandwidth we now have, with your input!
In the meantime, thanks again to Lightcone and our funders.

Weird opp??? Mox used to be a city records center, so we inherited a pretty legit server room.
- 120A @ 240V
- 5 ton cooling unit
- 100kW diesel genny w/ 1000-gal tank
- 2.5Gb sym fiber
Can get it live in ~1 month. Who needs serious on-prem infra in SF?
In practice this comes out to being able to host ~20kw of compute (limiting factor is the cooling unit)! Tell me if I'm wrong but I think this would mean you could run a HGX B300 8x on prem + all the necessary stuff alongside it

New AI Nodes + important grant updates!
Exciting new chapter: we are launching two physical hubs – one in Berlin and one in San Francisco! With these nodes, we want to support ambitious researchers and builders who use AI to advance science and safety. The hubs combine grant funding with office and community spaces, programming, and in-house compute to help teams build faster.
The AI Nodes will open in early 2026, and we’re now inviting applications for:
• Grants: Funding, office space, in-house compute (for eligible projects), and invitations to relevant workshops and events.
• Office & event spaces: Free access to our nodes.
• Compute: Free compute for your project.
We are also making important updates to our grants – they will now be connected to the nodes, have an AI-first approach, and monthly deadlines instead of quarterly.
Come shape a future where AI progress remains open, secure, and aligned with human flourishing. Learn more and apply by Dec 31: foresight.org/grants/grants-…
