I needed a centralized dashboard to house everything I wanted to look at:
A snapshot of my investments
The current forex rates, as well as oil and gold
My home-lab status, CPU/RAM/SSD1/SSD2
My sites availability and response times
Logs when my sites are down
Other event logs for signups/payments/ect
Quick links to other sites and pages
A world clock
And even a notepad.
But I did not want to spin up multiple heavy services like n8n and grafana, so I build it myself.
Para-Scope is a lightweight dashboard and event hub, designed for individuals or small teams.
- It can poll sources, both local and online
- Receive webhooks
- Fully authenticated
- Take action based on rules, like update a logbook or push a notification server, or populate shared/global data fields
- And finally display everything on a fully customizable(Drag&Drop) dashboard. Style the dashboard with different themes and a opaque background and you're golden.
This is a free and open source project, and I would love it if you have a look.

For people who don't understand how important Adobe is in the art industry but how predatory they are, this is literally the artist equivalent of "AI finds cure for cancer" and the response from artists is "id rather have cancer then let AI find the cure."
AI is now being used to recreate Adobe’s software, a developer has released seven free, open-source apps as clean-room alternatives to Adobe’s main tools:
- PhotoCraft → Photoshop
- VectorCraft → Illustrator
- FilmCraft → Premiere Pro
- LightCraft → Lightroom
- EffectCraft → After Effects
- DesignCraft → InDesign
- PrintCraft → Acrobat Pro
Built in Rust with help from Claude Opus 5.5, they run on Windows, Linux, and macOS under MIT/Apache licenses without using Adobe’s source code.
I was waiting for this!
Todos los productos de Adobe reimplementados desde cero, gratuitos y de código abierto

Lex Libertas | Media Statement
Lex Libertas condemns Lamola-backed threats against institutions speaking out about South Africa
PRETORIA – Lex Libertas has condemned and rejected proposals by senior ANC representatives, supported by International Relations Minister Ronald Lamola, to clamp down on South African citizens and civil-society organisations that engage internationally about the crisis in South Africa.
In advancing this draconian proposal, Parliament’s International Relations Committee chairperson Supra Mahumapelo specifically named Lex Libertas and several other institutions, suggested that their engagements in Washington, D.C. could be regarded as treasonous, and called for legislation that would allow for citizens to be stripped of their citizenship. Other senior ANC representatives suggested that those involved should be prosecuted, while International Relations Minister Ronald Lamola endorsed the broader call for a clampdown and said the executive would investigate measures against people who, in his words, spread “misinformation” about South Africa internationally.
‘A serious effort to distinguish truth from falsehood should be welcomed, but this is by no means what is happening,’ said Dr Ernst Roets, Executive Director of Lex Libertas. ‘If somebody spreads false information, the answer is straightforward: identify the false statement, present the evidence and correct the record. That is how people who are interested in truth behave.’
‘Those now threatening us have not even attempted to demonstrate that our claims are false. Instead, they are attempting to preserve a deceitful political narrative by labelling inconvenient facts as “misinformation” and threatening those who communicate them.’
Roets said Lex Libertas is confident that an objective assessment of the issues at stake would demonstrate that the organisations now being accused of spreading falsehoods have repeatedly raised legitimate and verifiable concerns, while the South African government has too often responded through denial, minimisation or dishonest deflection.
Lex Libertas said the threats should nevertheless be taken seriously.
‘Freedom of expression is not a favour granted by the government. It is a basic and inalienable freedom. Even South Africa’s Constitution, despite the government now invoking the language of legality against its critics, expressly protects the freedom to receive and impart information and ideas in section 16. Section 20 goes further and states unequivocally that no citizen may be deprived of citizenship.’
Roets said the proposals are particularly disturbing in the immediate aftermath of the White Cross Project in Washington, D.C., where Lex Libertas presented a documented report on political incitement, farm attacks, race-based legislation, threats to property rights and possible solutions, while engaging American policymakers and the broader public.
‘The timing is revealing. The international narrative that the government has tried to maintain is increasingly being challenged. Lex Libertas’s White Cross Project demonstrated that a growing number of people internationally are willing to listen to evidence that contradicts the official version of events.’
‘What we are now witnessing looks increasingly like the desperate reaction of a political establishment that can see its authority and credibility weakening. Instead of answering criticism, it wants stronger powers against the critics.’
Roets warned that nobody involved in legitimate civil-society advocacy should be deterred by these threats.
‘The exact opposite will happen in our case. If the South African government responds to international scrutiny by threatening organisations that speak abroad, then that response itself becomes part of the case that the international community needs to understand.’

In plain, non political, speech.
Stop fighting us Elon. Just let us steal 30% of your company. We are so gracious, we will let you keep 70%. Of course we'll tax the living hell out of that 70% and we will tell you who you can hire, when you're allowed to fire them and we'll change the rules whenever our greed increases.
JUST LET US STEAL 30% of your company
"I hope Elon is listening," deputy communications minister Mondli Gungubele said.

BREAKING: South Africa’s Deputy Communications Minister Mondli Gungubele has publicly urged Elon Musk to bring Starlink to the country. 🇿🇦
He said:
• The government is still talking with Starlink
• Starlink could be a game-changer for people facing expensive or unreliable internet
• Musk could invest significantly in his country of birth
• Meeting the 30% ownership rule would still leave 70% of the value and profits
• Both sides should work together to reduce inequality
“I hope Elon is listening.”

AI is cool and badass. I like it.
No, it's not the end of the world. We can "contain" it.
Now I will rant for a moment about what I dislike about AI.
I strongly dislike when large corporations try to inject AI into every product, essentially forcing us to use AI.
I also strongly dislike when people use AI for every small little thing in their life, such as leaving comments on websites like Xitter, YouTube, Reddit, etc. It defeats the entire purpose of leaving a comment on something... you're supposed to share YOUR thoughts, not an AI agents generated string output. It's goofy.
I also strongly dislike the nonsense blabbering of AI propaganda, how it will destroy the world, or how companies need to "contain it", essentially acting as means to corner the AI model market, trying to strip it away from individuals who may want to host it locally. It's a facade of "Only WE can do AI, not YOU", whilst charging absurd fees for usage.
I also dislike AI nerds who try to tell me to use AI to do things I do simply because I enjoy doing them. Yes, maybe an AI agent could reverse engineer faster than me, or code faster than me, but I do it because I enjoy it.
AI is an excellent tool to enhance work flows, or learn (assuming it doesn't hallucinate).
Okay, that's all I want to say about AI for today.
