Do plasma levels of psychotropic medications (plus their metabolites) matter for response and side effects?
Yes, they do.
Do pharmacogenetic (PGx) tests of CYP enzymes allow to predict plasma levels/metabolites?
Yes, they do.
Do PGx tests allow to predict (and explain past) response and side effects?
Yes, they do.
It's a simple equation! 🙂
Avoid wasting too much time with trial and error approaches.

Inauguration of the first "Pharmacogenomics Interest Group (PIG)" meeting at the #WCPG2024
Many attendants joined; great to see so much interest in translational research, aimed to improve treatment for the individual patient.
Main goals of the "PIG":
- Networking to promote collaborative discoveries and liaising with the @pgrnhub psychiatric PGx interest group
- Promote implementation of PGx testing where evidence is strong (see @cpicpgx recommendations)
- Propose / join ongoing statements and updated review articles with @ISPGnet members on PGx in psychiatry
- Enhance and provide solid mentorship (both, clinical and research)
Interested to learn more about "PIG" 🐷? Please feel free to DM! – at Central Region, Singapore

Grateful for this @CIHR_IRSC Award to study genomic/pharmacogenomic factors contributing risk for difficult-to-treat (or treatment-resistant) major depressive disorder (MDD).
Study participants @CAMHnews with MDD will obtain evidence-based, state-of-the-art pharmacogenetic testing to rule out drug metabolism 'abnormalities' as they are followed up in a measurement-based care program.
This elaborated strategy will provide the best possible care and advance the transition into a new era of #PrecisionMedicine for individuals affected with MDD.
CAMH is proud to announce that we have received award funding as part of the CIHR (@CIHR_IRSC) Project Grant Spring 2024 competition, for a total of $4,686,177!
🎉Congratulations to our 7 grant awardees!
