After ~3 years of blood, sweat and lots of tears, my research has been published!
They say the first one is the hardest, so I'm hoping the next leg of the journey will be relatively easier!

I’m ALL for criticism of local and foreign govts (especially if their foreign policy directly affects the safety and sovereignty of my homeland) but I find it very disingenuous when people seek scholarships sponsored by a state that goes against their fundamental principles.
Being a Fulbright grantee myself, I know for a fact that you HAVE to sing praises of America in your personal statement in order to be successful. And you can argue that it was out of necessity but that does not apply if you’re also from LUMS.

Forget 15 minute cities, here is everything that is on Wikipedia located within a 30 minute walk of where you are:

This is the most personal thing I have ever written. But it applies to everyone who lost the creative part of themselves as a result of societal conditioning.
Please be kind to anyone who messages you on LinkedIn or any other platform asking for admission/career guidance. Help them or point them to the right direction. We need to save others from these bloodsucking “agents”.
Seems like research output and innovation in STEM carries a lot of weight. QAU, NUST and COMSATS have some great research groups. LUMS’ science and engineering school is good too but it’s all contained in one building, so it really cannot compete with the “giants”.
We have become far too good at celebrating mediocrity in higher education.
I see Pakistani universities proudly advertising a place among the world’s top 1,000. Is that really the height of our ambition?
And when Hazara University in Mansehra and LUMS end up in the same ranking band, I have serious questions about what these rankings actually measure.
Pakistan needs to pull up its socks. Improve teaching. Produce meaningful research. And get serious about submitting accurate, complete, verifiable data to international ranking organisations.
Our students deserve better than a higher education system that celebrates mediocrity while squandering their potential …
Attended a lecture delivered by the inspiring Dr. Nergis Mavalvala on her work developing the LIGO detector, which allows us to measure ripples in space-time. Also discovered one of the scientists who won the Nobel prize for it was the consulting producer for Interstellar!
Ever stop to wonder how many different niches there are for careers, interests, styles etc? And there are always tons of people who are a part of them.
Sometimes the algorithm will throw something completely new at me and I’ll be imagining who their audience is.
Why don’t Pakistani professors reply to emails? I’m literally pitching a grant proposal that would benefit them and their careers, but it feels like they aren’t even checking their inbox.
I’ve been thinking about Hina Javed and why her family didn’t do a proper background check before marrying her off and I remembered something a male friend, who I consider to be a decent person, said. Men will always have each others backs, even if they’re not friends.
Clearly, everyone knew this guy was a walking red flag but no one is going to come up and voluntarily tell you that once you or your family have made the decision to accept a proposal.
Wait, this is so cool! A Japanese mountaineer is going to carry the lightweight solar panel prototype to K2 base camp and use it to power his equipment.
Perovskite solar tested at over 5,000 m altitude: Monochrome will test a perovskite PV prototype at an altitude of around 5,150 meters during an alpine expedition in Pakistan's Karakoram region. The field… dlvr.it/TTzBzh #Photovoltaics #EnergyStorage #RenewableEnergy
Well, inherited DNA is lost after 7-8 generations and if your ancestors moved to South Asia around then, then your heredity is going to be predominantly South Asian. However, you do see small percentages of Chinese, Persian and European/African heritage.
Trying to learn more about modern day Iran and parallels between life there and in Pakistan. Reddit users say it’s despotic but Instagram tells another story. I can’t find a credible source that speaks about both sides of the picture without politicizing it.
I thought HEC’s degree attestation was an unnecessary process but now they’ve introduced a standardized college admission test which they’re encouraging all federal universities to adopt. So now high school graduates have another test to study for on top of the ECAT and MCAT.
