Do you know someone who is always late?
Are YOU always late?
The economics of the thing are pretty simple. The answer is: Transaction Costs!

It's the new TAITC!
The sleight of hand involved in taking envy, a sin, and dressing it up in silken robes and calling it "Social Justice," is very impressive.
What YOU have does not affect what I have. If you getting more makes me mad, that's just envy.
I hope EVERYONE has more than I have!
Gimme that TEA, for Texas! Gimme that TEA for Tennessee!

I cover the case in my newsletter this week reason.com/2026/07/07/europeβ¦
Annual appreciation of a home: 3%-3.5%
Median property tax rate: 1.2%-1.5%
Monthly rent payments on paid off home: $0.00/mo
Monthly rent payments on rental: $2,000/mo
Monthly maintenance costs: $600/mo
You are making 1.5% or more, net. AND YOU ARE NOT PAYING RENT.
And you actually know, so I'll shut up!
Replying to @mungowitz
After more than a decade of teaching social entrepreneurship, I am convinced "entrepreneurship" is an attitude combined with behavior rooted in searching and persistence, all of which is directed toward creating (and then monetizing) value.
This statement is remarkably ignorant of basic facts about income distribution and wealth.
I'm tempted to believe the author is trolling, because no one is that dumb.
But I think I'm wrong. Quite a few people are that dumb.
They didn't make the rules, they are trying to win the game.
The rules almost require corruption and double-dealing. Doesn't have to be that way, though.
It's not clear to me that FIFA didn't just "review" the red card on its own. Out of craven economics.
And, I think I lot of USers would have whined if we had lost without Balogun.
"Losing with grace" is not really the American way, Sam.
Dang, folks. @JonahDispatch is en fuego today.
There are many obnoxious divas. The "bigger issue" is really the problem, yes.
Okay. But maybe the bigger problem with Candace Owens isnβt primarily that sheβs an obnoxious diva β hardly uncommon among people who care about being βcelebrities.β Perhaps the bigger issue is sheβs a lunatic bigot, cruel and vicious conspiracy peddler, and a profoundly ignorant hustler. But, yes, Iβm sure sheβs also rude to colleagues and staff, too. I also hear that Graham Platner doesnβt pick up his socks.

Graham Platner's latest accuser. What she and CNN's interview reveal about the noble lie.
Among progressives, thereβs a strong predilection for the noble lie---moreso, Iβm convinced, than exists with conservatives.
I donβt think it was his intention, but Jake Tapper helped to expose this fact when he interviewed Jenny Racicot, who is accusing Graham Platner of rape.
Tapper: There are gonna be Democrats who say βI believe you but I donβt care. Iβm gonna vote for him anyway. Because we need a progressive voice in the United States Senate.β Are you okay with that? Are you going to be able to handle that? Iβm not saying thatβs the right answer or the right response, but.
Racicot: No, uhmm, I have friends who feel that way. And thatβs been a hard pill to swallow. β¦ I understand. I understand that the state of our political environment is so much so that we need a lot of change. And heβs offering that change.

Well, now, wait, Bill.
The Dems at least pretend to care about sexual abuse, and say "Believe the woman."
GOP clearly doesn't care at all about corruption and financial misdealing. It's literally their brand.
The comparison is infelicitous.
Suppose you and want to meet. We agree on time and place.
You would never go to the wrong place, on purpose.
But you come at the wrong time, ON PURPOSE. Why?
