On this date in 1991, Kirby Puckett made Game 6 of the #WorldSeries his own – and etched his name into @Twins history. ow.ly/RGS75100Zkb

The U.S. has designated helium as a critical material, citing its importance to semiconductor production and growing supply chain risks. The designation comes as the war with Iran strains the global helium supply. 60 Minutes reported on the shortage on Sunday, including its impact on scientific research. Joe Sachleben, technical director at an NMR lab at the University of Chicago, says there is no substitute for helium. Without enough of it, researchers could be forced to decide which machines to “sacrifice.” cbsn.ws/47DMmLf

Bud Selig gives the ball to Robin Yount. Yount then bows to honor Bob Uecker before throwing the first pitch. Incredible moment before the World Series begins.

October 21, 1975. 51 years ago today, Carlton Fisk hit one of the most iconic home runs of all time. He waved it fair to win Game 6 of the 1975 World Series in the 12th inning for the Red Sox. One of the greatest moments in baseball history.

I started at Pioneer Press on Labor Day weekend in 1968. Fifty-eight yrs later, I gotta say if JJ McCarthy turns out to be a player, it will rank as a Top 12 all-time chuckle in the TC market. Please, sports god, do us scribes one more solid.

Just watched the Norm Macdonald Netflix documentary. Worth your time. What a legend. Still hilarious to know that he was constantly being threatened with being fired from SNL for making O.J. Simpson jokes, but he kept doing it anyways.

OTD in 1959, the one and only @normmacdonald was born. In his 61 years, he became one of the greatest comedians of his era, including as the anchor on @SNLUpdate and through standup. Below, one of the greatest jokes he ever did (on @ConanOBrien’s show).
