i’m 36 and i’ve gone through: dial up internet going to officemax to buy software in a box arguing with family over the phone line having my own labeled floppy disk napster / limewire / bearshare adobe licenses that weren’t timebound microsoft encarta using the first mouse with a click wheel bondi blue imac microsoft xp space cadet pinball ask jeeves printing directions off mapquest google’s “i’m feeling lucky” button internet cafes myspace autoplay songs the ipod tumblr music blogs the golden age of torrents hackintoshes and somehow i feel like the searchability and value of the internet is worse than ever :( we’re losing texts and accepting that everything needs to be found through a paid algorithm. i don’t feel good about this.
