Some perspective on @Grok 4.7.
xAI was founded in 2023. The first Grok was built after roughly four months of development, with only around two months spent on the training run that produced the initial release.
OpenAI had already been around for nearly eight years.
Then xAI built a 100,000-GPU training cluster in 122 days and doubled it to 200,000 shortly after.
Three years later, Grok 4.7 is already trading blows with frontier models on individual benchmarks, while still clearly losing on others.
So no, Grok 4.7 isn't universally SOTA.
But judging xAI only by today's leaderboard position while ignoring its rate of improvement is probably the least interesting way to analyze it.
And judging a frontier model from one badly designed prompt?
Maybe the benchmark is somewhere between the keyboard and the chair.
