Do you still need a framework if your coding agent can write one?
Someone asked exactly this on our Neuron v4 announcement thread on r/PHP. Fair question.
Two answers came back, and then there's the line we draw 🧵
In Neuron everything is a workflow: state persists, runs pause and resume, a human can step in, agents coordinate. We maintain that layer, you own your agent.
You don't need it to learn, or for one prompt in, one answer out.

1/ A model cannot run code. It only writes text.
So when an agent "uses a tool", who actually runs it? Hidran Arias shows it in PHP with Neuron, and prints every step of the run. 🧵
4/ Ask "What does composer install do?" and no tool runs.
"Nobody wrote an if statement for this. The model made the choice."
A loop has no natural end, so Neuron counts each tool's runs and stops the run with an exception after 10, by default.
5/ 🔐 "That's also the security model. An agent can only do what we gave it a tool for."

1/ Building an agent in Drupal often means gluing modules together, each one configured on its own settings screen.
Antonio De Marco of @nuvoleweb took another route: write the agent in PHP, as a Drupal plugin. 🧵

To try it, ddev drush ghost starts the Ghostwriter example agent in your terminal.
5/ The module is in active development, and the European Commission is among its supporting organizations.
