🔥👻 Poland's ancient Halloween: A centuries-old Slavic ritual comes back to life in Sopot In the Polish seaside town of Sopot, participants recreated Dziady, an ancient Slavic festival honoring the dead, with roots dating back to pre-Christian times. Participants lit torches, gathered around bonfires, performed ritual chants, and symbolically offered food and drinks to the dead. Ancient Slavs believed that the souls of their ancestors could return to the world of the living during this time, while fire warmed the spirits and helped guide them home. However, few detailed descriptions of the original rituals have survived, so organizers acknowledge that this was a modern reenactment rather than an exact recreation of the ancient tradition.

US woman dies a week after violent police arrest. Her daughter files lawsuit 66-year-old Nyota Koya died in a Sacramento hospital a week after being detained by a police officer. Her daughter, Nathifa Wright, filed a lawsuit accusing officer Matthew Sterling of excessive use of force, unlawful detention and wrongful death. The incident took place on November 17, 2024, in the parking lot of Haggin Oaks Golf Complex. Koya’s electric vehicle had run out of charge, leaving her unable to leave. The responding officer ordered her to leave the property. Body-camera footage shows him pulling Koya out of the car, pinning her face-down on the asphalt and handcuffing her. The woman cries and calls for help before losing consciousness. Paramedics who arrived at the scene found that she had no pulse. On November 24, Koya died without regaining consciousness. The medical examiner listed complications from a pulmonary embolism associated with deep vein thrombosis as the cause of death. Her daughter alleges that the officer’s actions and the delay in providing medical assistance led to her mother’s death. However, the alleged causal link is disputed. The medical examiner classified the death as natural, but that classification does not in itself rule out possible police liability. According to The Sacramento Bee on October 27, 2026, Sterling remains on the Sacramento Police Department’s force. At the time of publication, the court had not issued a final ruling on the merits of the allegations.

🤡 Putin: “In Russia, we remember the lessons of the First and Second World Wars well, and we are doing everything to ensure that nothing like that happens on a global scale” Just think about that: a deranged old man whose brain has been irreversibly consumed by delusions of grandeur has unleashed the bloodiest war in Europe since World War II. Thousands of civilians have been killed, entire cities have been reduced to rubble, Russian losses have surpassed one million, and there is still no end in sight to this war. And he says Russia remembers the lessons! What lessons does it remember? This man is completely unhinged. His deranged theories, which drove him to invade Ukraine, defy all comment. But it’s not just about his state of mind — this creature rules Russia, and the majority of Russians don’t see a problem with that.
‼️Putin: “We are ready for war with Europe in 2030, but we don’t want any war” Is the dictator announcing his plans?

Trump’s deal has failed? American companies are in no rush to buy Russian diesel Businesses are wary of the legal and reputational risks, The Washington Sun reports. Trump’s aides are privately urging companies to accept the shipments. Between October 16 and 22, three tankers — Talisman, Leruo and Agioi Fanendes — departed from the Russian port of Primorsk for the United States. They are carrying a total of 924,000 barrels of diesel. However, the vessels’ routes are already changing. Analysts estimate that the fuel could ultimately end up in Brazil. American politicians are also opposing the shipments. A bipartisan group of congressmen has warned banks, ports and distributors of potential legal liability for participating in deals involving Russian fuel. A 2022 law prohibits its import, and to lift the restrictions, the president must notify Congress 90 days in advance and meet a number of conditions. The expected drop in US diesel prices has also failed to materialize. Fuel is selling for around $6.30 per gallon — slightly more than when Trump and Putin reached their agreement.

Robots lay all the brick walls of a house for the first time in the Netherlands Amsterdam-based startup Monumental announced that its robots completed all the brickwork on a house in the city of Almere. The machines handled straight and curved walls, different types of bricks and even laid bricks to form raised lettering. The company’s CEO, Salar al-Khafaji, announced the results on October 28. Over the coming weeks, the robots are expected to be used in the construction of another 15 houses. However, the technology is limited to bricklaying and does not mean the entire construction process is fully automated. Humans still supervise the machines and carry out tasks the robots cannot handle. Monumental hopes the technology will speed up construction and help address the labour shortage. However, it is too early to talk about robots replacing construction workers on a mass scale: the system’s reliability and cost-effectiveness still need to be tested in large-scale construction projects.

China expels 33 officials from the Communist Party. Purges target top military leadership The fifth plenum of the Chinese Communist Party’s Central Committee took place in Beijing. The plenum was attended by just 279 Central Committee members — fewer than at previous meetings. Those expelled included General Zhang Youxia, General Liu Zhenli and former Xinjiang Party Secretary Ma Xingrui. Following personnel changes in the Central Military Commission, only two of its seven regular members reportedly remain: Xi Jinping and Zhang Shengmin. Experts cited by the BBC believe Xi Jinping is using the purges to consolidate his personal power ahead of the Communist Party Congress in 2027. Officially, the authorities attribute the expulsions to violations of party discipline and corruption, but have provided no details. During the first nine months of 2026, disciplinary measures affected 680,000 people within the party apparatus. Xi Jinping has been conducting an anti-corruption campaign since 2012. According to experts, it has become a tool for combating disloyalty and strengthening control over the party and the military. At the 2027 congress, Xi is expected to secure re-election for a fourth term.
