It’s actually astonishing 😂 The last time I visited Zim, I came abroad and told my friends that, from what I had seen, the country was slowly progressing compared to when I left. A good number of people seemed to be doing well for themselves, and some of the roads were genuinely in good condition. The backlash I got was something else! 😂 People came up with all sorts of theories, you’d swear I had committed a national offence by saying something positive about Zim. I honestly don’t know whether it’s self-hate, deep-rooted disappointment or whether some people have been hurt by the country one too many times. But it almost feels like some people would rather see Zim fail than admit that even a little progress is happening. Surely we can acknowledge the problems without pretending that absolutely nothing good is happening? We can criticise our country and still give credit where it’s due! 🇿🇼
