last night I got the honor to interview the king 👑
@sama has been an advisor for @theresidency since the beginning. he sees the flaws with traditional education and believes in the potential of young people to bring out innovations that will transform our everyday lives 🧵
now that the residency has been around ~3 years, it is so cool to see the "where they started" and "where they are now"
nice work @zainmfj @aidaxbaradari and @AkshayNarisetti y'all are truly industry setters
10 years ago, @Luigi_Dintrono and @Raul_RomeroM met on a scholarship from venezuela to the US
neither came from privilege. both got a rare shot and neither took it for granted
when they started kite they made a pact: hit funding + traction milestones by june, or shut it down
they hit them. then they came to SF and joined @theResidency
luigi is at his desk 8am to midnight. every. single. day.
when an investor meeting opens up across the country, raul flies in from boston overnight, does the meetings, and flies back the next night
no ego. no politics. just two founders calling each other out and executing with total intensity
they're building the best harness for the next generation of robots at @trainrobotsfast
meet them in person at demo day. if you're an early-stage investor who wants to see grit & high agency up close, link below 👇
this should be the most exciting time ever to be a mathematician! all of these newly solved problems will unlock great applications in the real world. need someone or an AI to figure out all the use cases!
This is an incredible moment in this history of mathematics, computer science, physics & science with some of the hardest problems in human history being solved by AI over a period of weeks. Depending on your perspective, it's either a crisis, a triumph, or both. I don't think anyone knows for sure. We're all trying to make sense of it. I oscillate between fear/dread and optimism/excitement on a daily basis. The rate of progress is insane, including today's announcement from OpenAI of more problems solved.
To help make sense of all of it, here's my conversation with three mathematicians about this moment. Each of them is an expert in the field of each of the biggest problems solved: Navier-Stokes, quasi-Riemann hypothesis, the unique games conjecture and complexity theory more generally.
Ankur Moitra is a mathematician and theoretical computer scientist at MIT, visiting the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. Steven Brunton (@eigensteve) is a mathematician and fluid dynamics expert at UW. Alex Kontorovich (@AlexKontorovich) is a mathematician at Rutgers specializing in number theory.
the best university in 2030 won't have professors, lectures, or exams.
AI will be the tutor.
peer relationships will be put into focus.
what is built, a portfolio, will be the new "degree".

Scientists found a way to flush Alzheimer’s plaque out of the brain in minutes.
Without any surgery and drugs.
Your brain has a waste-clearance network called the glymphatic system. It flushes out toxic proteins and dead cells.
But it only really activates during deep, slow-wave sleep.
If you don't sleep, the trash piles up. Over time, that buildup leads to cognitive decline and Alzheimer's.
Until today.
Researchers just published a paper proving they can manually trigger this cleaning cycle.
Without you ever going to sleep.
They used 40.68 MHz ultrashort waves (USW) beamed non-invasively into the brain.
Within 10 minutes, the brain's fluid flow rapidly accelerated.
The waves artificially synchronized the neurons into a Delta state, the exact frequency of deep sleep. This forced the brain's water channels to open and start flushing out the system.
They tested it on mice with traumatic brain injuries and Alzheimer's pathology.
The brain swelling dropped. The toxic proteins were cleared out. Cognitive deficits actually improved.
No surgery. No massive chemical interventions. Just a frequency.

Today we introduce Plato: the ring for near-silent speech.
We speak faster than we write. But we can’t always say out loud what we’re thinking.
Plato turns thought into action.
Dictate. Transform. Delegate.

For the last ten years I have spent every moment thinking about nothing but air. And how to make better, more personalized air accessible to homes all over the world.
And today I can finally present the next huge step in that journey.
Introducing Breethr P1, the Personal Climate System.
Launching today. And open for pre-orders right now
Reserve your P1 for $99: breethr.com

in a world where simulations are possible, there will be infinitely more simulations than there is of reality
we are in a world where simulations are possible
the likelihood we are in "base reality" is 1/infinity

You can have Alzheimer's for 15 years and not know it.
We can finally slow it down. But only if we catch it early.
So we built the earliest test for it. Saccade (YC F26)
Saccade (YC F26): The World's Earliest Alzheimer's Test
A non-invasive VR test that analyzes your eye movements for signs linked to Alzheimer's. Treatment works best early, and Alzheimer's can begin years before memory changes. saccade.health
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Saccade markets its VR test as the "world's earliest Alzheimer's test," but its site states results "do not confirm or rule out Alzheimer’s," are "investigational research measures" and not validated for individual diagnosis. saccade.health saccade.health/assessment.html
