Sleep, love, family, fitness, community/crew, passionately doing work I’m inspired by, & creatively hobbying.
These are my priorities, in this order of importance. I hope they will provide some grounding through AGI/singularity wave that will crash upon us all soon.

We may be the last generation to remember what it felt like when expert-level help was unavailable at the moment of need.
That is an extraordinary transition. We should not waste it on convenience alone.

Summary of US AI policy ahead of today’s mtgs:
Beat China.
Fast & Safe.
Follow the law.
Act like adults - stop scaring people.
We currently test all frontier models & only country to have sanctioned a model. And we have max open & closed competition.
And we are winning. 🇺🇸🚀

Last year the same labs, politicians, NGOs, and media outlets now pushing the extinction hoax were running a full-scale campaign that AI would cause a jobs apocalypse.
We were told it would be a “white-collar bloodbath,” 10–20% unemployment, half of entry-level jobs gone. Obama amplified it.
Over a year later: unemployment at 4.1%. No economy-wide displacement. A million new jobs created by AI, says The Economist. Anthropic’s own chief economist says the data looks like skill augmentation, not job destruction.
So, any admission by the doomer labs, politicians, and NGOs that they were wrong? Any humility about scaring the public with wild extrapolations dressed up as forecasts? Nope.
They just move on to the next hoax, with the same false certitude and fake precision.
🚨 Anthropic Chief Economist Peter McCrory Says AI Job Loss Predictions Are Not Panning Out
“What I see in our data is that [AI] looks more like a skill-biased labor augmenting technology than a technology that outright automates and displaces displaces jobs wholesale … Based on the Department of Labor's taxonomy … there's no job where every single task is being automated by Claude.”
showing wifey TNG The Drumhead tonight
villains who twirl their mustaches are easy to spot. Those who clothe themselves in good deeds are well camouflaged ... Maybe. But she, or someone like her, will always be with us, waiting for the right climate in which to flourish, spreading fear in the name of righteousness.Vigilance that is the price we have to continually pay.
thanks @jonathansfrakes for directing this stellar episode. The episode had great pacing, subtleness, and you left ample time for the concluding wisdom to really simmer in my childhood mind back in the 90s.

When frontier labs talk of “aligning” models, ask: to what? If they say values, ask: whose? If it’s theirs rather than the user’s: why?

One day it will be recognised that our mood is one way that we pollute the commons; that feelings are not private; that we have a responsibility to the commons & each other to cultivate joy & not be in a gigantic sulk at life all the time. its like defecating in the town water

“Don't think for a second that because you are an alarmist that you are doing a social good.”
This sentence is just devastating for so many intellectuals who need everybody to presume that they’re “the good people”
Thank goodness we have Jensen!

Mark Zuckerberg: “I don’t think that we need some kind of industry-wide coordination... I think that just each lab needs to take the time, and when it sees that there are issues, you just take the time that you need internally to make sure that you’re proceeding safely…
“we’re entering a phase where trust and alignment is actually going to be the most important next set of capabilities. I think we’re getting to a point where it may not matter that much how much better it gets at math.
“I happen to think that there’s plenty of commercial incentive to get this right.
We delayed the launch of Muse for a few months because we wanted it to be a better product for users. This was not a sacrifice on our part, but rather the right decision for the users and for Meta. I believe this approach would also be correct for other companies working on developing this technology.
“When you hear people in the industry talk about some trade-off between capabilities and getting it aligned, I just disagree with that. I believe that alignment is actually the next most important ability to master if we are going to make this system useful to many people.”
i was having dinner with someone recently who asked why i spend so much time reading & posting on x. she had a pretty negative perception of the platform mostly shaped by the mainstream narrative around it.
my answer was simple. x is where the future gets beta tested.
you basically get to watch ppl build things, talk through ideas, show off stuff, & argue about where everything is going, way way before it reaches anyone else.
there really isn’t another surface on the internet quite like it.

AI is getting cheaper more quickly than any other transformative tech in history. At a given level of performance, cost has fallen ~47%/quarter since 2023.
That’s 4× faster than DNA sequencing, 6× faster than compute, 18× faster than lithium batteries, and (up to 1973) 54× faster than electricity.
