The governor-elect of Texas, Gina Hinojosa, has explicitly said that all currently permitted datacenters in Texas will be allowed to finish construction. This essentially covers all of the 2027 and likely well into 2028.
She is going to pass laws that ensure that all *newly* permitted datacenters going forward for delivery in 2028/2029 will pay taxes, commit to no increase in power prices for consumers, don’t impact water availability for people, be constructed with union labor and give “Texans a seat at the table.”
Sounds reasonable. She doesn’t want to lose a lot of good blue collar jobs and property taxes for small towns in rural Texas.
Datacenter commentary starts at 6:30 in this interview.
Also attaching her official campaign position from her website in the next post.
Sidenote: After watching a bunch of her speeches and interviews, I do think she is a political talent and probably has a future in national politics.

I wasn't expecting to agree but Alex is 100% correct here
Related, don't let LLMs edit your writing. Ask them for feedback/thoughts and then you edit
Whether or not this specific story is true. That’s the playbook. Upside if they were right is sooooo high.
Heard a funny story about Terafab.
Apparently, Elon went to an equipment supplier and confidently declared that he didn’t need process control (basically, inline metrology). He figured they could just catch the defects during wafer testing at the end.
Then he came back later saying, “Okay, I was wrong. Can you sell me those tools?” 🤣
Honestly, that should have been obvious. TSMC and Samsung aren’t stupid. There’s a reason they use all that equipment. It comes down to economics…
Still, I like that he’s willing to learn as he goes. 👍

BREAKING: Starlink helped Japan’s ZIPAIR grow passenger revenue 12.3% YoY.
Japan Airlines (JAL) says @Starlink improved ZIPAIR’s onboard experience and helped drive revenue growth alongside flexible pricing.
ZIPAIR became Asia’s first airline with Starlink across its entire fleet in May. April–September passenger revenue reached ¥42.9 billion, while seat occupancy jumped from 73.7% to 87.8%.
Just like the technofascists that pushed to get rid of elevator operators. Elevators aren’t stairs.

Both?
But you'll probably find that the same people that are trying to stop datacenters... also the same people stopping the build of everything else you mention.
My favorite sen padilla story was when I sat next to him on an early morning flight from LA to DC (ironically to check out a prototype aircraft for starlink install).
As we made final approach around 11am he made sure the flight attendant served him one last white wine before his long day on the hill.
Elon Musk ADMITTED SpaceX throttled Starlink internet access in Ukraine. And new reporting raises serious questions about whether the Starlink outage was used to squeeze more money out of U.S. taxpayers.
If true, we’re talking about a trillionaire potentially committing a federal crime to enrich himself. Worth an inquiry, don’t you think?
Yes. Please scrutinize these contracts. And ALL THE OTHER ONES TOO.
The objective outcome won’t match your preconceived notion.
Ain’t nothing @davesgoldman hasn’t solved before
SpaceX is accusing T-Mobile and other legacy carriers of deliberately trying to harm the company and undermine @Starlink Mobile's expansion by pushing outdated, restrictive satellite-to-phone rules that could prevent millions of people in underserved communities from accessing the service.
"SpaceX has worked extensively with other operators, including T-Mobile. Unfortunately, the misplaced desire to harm a competitor has led many incumbents to oppose modernized rules that would bring direct-to-cell service to underserved border communities. The Commission should recognize that AFTRCC is now purely a lobbying organization whose mission is to protect legacy companies and their comments should not be viewed as independent or objective," SpaceX said in a new filing to the FCC.

“Great nations do not remain great by being caretakers of history, but by continuously making history.”
Apollo should never represent the upper limit of what @NASA can achieve. It should be a standard we continuously strive to exceed.
We’re bringing that intensity, discipline, and engineering ownership back to this agency. Great nations do not remain great by being caretakers of history, but by continuously making history.

I’m at a fast food place where Mambo #5 was just playing and it’s the first time I realized not a single couplet in the chorus actually rhymes.
