Red Wall voters being ignored and marginalised is one thing that winds me up. Another is well heeled Southern libertarians claiming to speak for them in order to advance a very different economic agenda.
"(Burnham) says he doesn't want to be divisive and yet he brings up the most divisive issue of the last 10 years"
Ex-Mumford & Sons member turned podcaster Winston Marshall says Andy Burnham's stance on Brexit won't be popular with "Red Wall" voters.

This week @CAupdates launched a new Campaign for the Countryside calling for a rural reset in the relationship between the countryside and the government.
Analysis by the Alliance has revealed that over the past two years there have been 27 harmful policies that negatively impact rural communities,
The launch event was attended by people and organisations from across rural Britain, including farming, rural businesses, horseracing, greyhound racing, shooting, trail hunting and angling. Speakers included senior politicians from across the political spectrum, including former Prime Minister David Cameron and former Labour Home Secretary David Blunkett.
Visit my website nickherbert.com to see my speech and media interviews about the campaign, as well as our video.
You can sign up to the campaign, and send a message to the Prime Minister and your MP calling for a reset, at: ruralreset.org.
“No winds are blowing in our favour”
Sir Mark Prescott says racing is being squeezed by taxation, betting restrictions and legislation, despite its importance to rural communities and its role as a major employer of young people.

A leading British countryside figure has slammed the damage "hapless" government betting policies have already had on horseracing and fears a mix of them and animal rights extremists could leave the sport in grave danger

We put out the call and the rural community answered in Westminster today, as we launched the Campaign for the Countryside with a series of brilliant speakers from across the political spectrum.
Thank you to both those speakers and our room full of guests, who joined us to make sure the countryside is heard and to ask the Prime Minister to commit to a rural reset.
Do you live in, work in or care about the countryside? We want you to get behind this campaign and make sure the voice of rural Britain is heard in Westminster. Learn more and add your voice here: ruralreset.org/#write-to-you…

Joining others from across the rural spectrum to remind the prime minister that 1 in 4 postcodes are rural ones, and that if he wants ‘growth in every postcode’, he needs to think rural. I like the #CampaignfortheCountryside as it’s apolitical, it’s broad, and it’s optimistic.

“It is time for this government to grasp that the countryside can be a major part of the solution to Britain's problems, not just a burden or an afterthought”.

It’s time for a rural reset. It’s time for the government to put rural communities and farmers right at the top of government priorities rather than continuing to punish them. ⬇️
An unprecedented range of government policies over the past two years have left rural people feeling under attack.
If political leaders want to speak for all parts of the country, they have to hear the countryside too.
Now is the time for a rural reset: ruralreset.org/
