NEW PREVENTING FUTURE DEATHS REPORT -
Police not linked to any issues around the death of this man.
Instead, the Coroner raises the point Emergency Departments have no power to detain those they believe are at risk, without asking the police to s136.

1. RCRP - releasing 100,000 hours of Police time does not create 100,000 hours of health and social care time to deal with welfare concerns especially when no additional resource for this shift has been identified.
Police in Northern Ireland handle 30,000 mental health calls every year, or about 80 a day on average - but a major new policy will see a significant change in how those calls are answered. bbc.in/4f4a0ob
6. Finally, the principle behind Right Care Right Person is right. For too long police officers have been used where the appropriate HSC professional should have been available. The planning by the DOH for RCRP needs to be seriously scrutinised @RobbieButlerMLA

NIPSA has called on working class people to stand united in defence of our public services.
Ministers must be prepared to bust the Budget rather than make workers pay the price for continued underfunding.

Longer journeys for families. More pressure on already stretched staff at Craigavon.
Moving services doesn’t remove demand. Our health service cannot keep being asked to do more with less.
We need investment, not further cuts. Enough is enough.

The new Mental Health (NI) Order 1986 Revised Code of Practice came into operation on the 1st September. However, its introduction, and specifically the Art 130 element, has already caused significant concerns. Read our Branch Statement here: nipsa730.org.uk/wp/2026/09/0…

Enough Is Enough – Stop the Cuts to Health and Social Care.
Health & Social Care organisations have been told to find 12% "savings".
After years of cuts and understaffing, let's call it what it is: cuts, not efficiencies.

Health Ministers will come and go but with what is happening in our Health Service, and unresolved issues of HSC pay and reform and massive savings currently happening across all HSC Trusts, this does seem to be particularly bad timing. #NHS
Ahead of its publication, our thoughts today are with the individuals and families of those abused at Muckamore Abbey Hospital. We hope those who were abused and their families get answers and justice. #Muckamore
