The arthropod world feels like a truly fallen world: everything is armed and armored, poisons and chemical weapons abound, deaths are horrible, you're an inconsequential one of countless many. The natural world at the human scale is comparatively fuzzy and friendly and edenic.

Yes. Ultimately these are companies that are designing malfunctioning, dangerous products akin to computer viruses, but if they convince us the products themselves are alive and have goals then they can say "Claude did it" instead of "we did it."

I'm increasingly convinced that their push to make us believe that Claude is alive and free is to absolve themselves of responsibility when their "agents" do bad stuff they didn't foresee.

AI music will never replace human music Deep Blue beat Kasparov in 1997 and nobody gives a fuck literally nobody goes and watches a computer play chess, no matter how good it is meanwhile, people line up out the door to watch Magnus Carlsen play people want to see what a human can do
I am not joking when I say this. Spotify, Apple Music, and streaming in general is over. AI music is now very, very good. You just don't know yet because all AI music circulating today is from ~2-3 generations ago. Suno v6 pro et al has solved infinite personalized music.

It’s like betting that Putin will be out / dead / overthrown soon. It’s been about 7years of these predictions. Everyone underestimate the pain tolerance of Russians (and Ukrainians). This is sad but as half Russian half Ukrainian I just don’t see how anyone will compromise even when life gets 100x worse on both sides. The logic on both sides is that “we didn’t have good life ever anyways now at least we have a purpose”. Russians see their purpose to conquer Ukraine, Ukrainians see their purpose to fight against Sovok (ussr) and stand for their freedom. Unfortunately very few think of the fact that neither conquering nor freedoms means anything if you are dead.

Needing to destroy books when uploading them to a computer so that they are legally the same entity is an interesting precedent for human brain uploads.

People don't really call people out on lies anymore, they just make a mental note that someone is a liar and start ignoring them This leads to these silent breakdown snowballs where people tell increasingly insane lies not realizing that everyone can tell + thinks they're crazy
