J. Cole just revealed he has a NEW VERSE written at the same level as “The Secret Recipe” classic.
“When they say you’re leaving Earth, this is what they mean. Not enough to just rhyme — you also have to say potent shit.”
He added: “I’m not always striving to do that [multi-syllable verses with content]. That’s just what I’ve been on lately. I wrote a verse a week ago and I’m not gon’ lie… it’s in that world.”

J. Cole shares why haters only come once you reach a certain level of success:
“As I’m looking at my life [in reverse] there’s a point when you started giving a F**k… There’s was a time when you had no worries about what anyone had to say negative about you because nobody gave a F*** & the love was so new.”

J. Cole Speaks on the Difficulty of writing The Fall-Off is Inevitable:
“It doesn’t make sense to do it if it’s not going to be harder than was [Nas] was.. It’s not impressive if I just tell a story in reverse cause it’s been done.. But could I tell my story in reverse while keeping one rhyme scheme the whole time.”
Cole goes on to share it was MANY TIMES he didn’t think he would be able to complete the song due to the difficulty that comes w/ trying to keep the same scheme while telling his story.

J. Cole speaks on Jay-Z in new interview 🚨
My takeaways are:
1. The biggest thing that Jay gave Cole was the attention, Cole got considered for opportunities simply because of the co-sign
2. Cole wasn’t ready to be famous at 24 when he first signed. Jay forced him to develop as an artist first, something that’s missing in today’s day & age.
“He had to have known what this was…Thank God, he didn’t go ‘Oh My God! Let’s take that to radio.’ He probably knew, ‘He needs some more development.’”

J. Cole gives ADVICE to content creators:
“Quantity is more important than quality in this day & age… If you have superior taste in quality than me but I [produce] more in quantity, I will be further along than you in terms of results.”
He adds, “Just show up. You are the quality. The s*it could be shot on an iPhone— it’s the knowledge, breakdown, perspective and personality that’s going to cut through.”

J. Cole speaks on Jaÿ-Z:
“I played ‘Wet Dreamz’ for [Hov] in my first meeting w/ him.. I didn’t put it out until 5 years later.. I’m thinking their’s no way he’s sitting in his office and heard this song didn’t know what it would do.”
He adds, “Thank God he didn’t take those songs to radio. I could’ve dropped a classic w/ the songs I had at age 24 but I wouldn’t have been able to manage it if I blew that early.”

J. Cole shares how he paid HOMAGE to Eminem:
“The delivery in [WHO TF IZ U] is paying homage to Eminem… At the end of the day, I’m just letting the rhymes guide me.”
He goes on to reference The Notorious B.I.G when explaining how he chose to paint a visual in a way that he’s never heard before.
