The fundamental lesson I hope Dem politicians take from this election is that they should not adopt positions unless they can defend them, honestly, in a one-on-one conversation with the median American voter, who is a white, non-college 50-yr-old living in a small-city suburb.

"Doing a better job of making California and New York growth-oriented jurisdictions will naturally make Democrats seem less like a party for rich snobs who don’t mind high taxes and bad services because they’re insulated from the struggles of daily life."
This rings true for me.

Do we ned to lose more national elections? I’d like to see the Democrats be a bit more self-reflective and stand up for female athletes, incarcerated women and lesbians.
If Democrats keep equating “protecting trans people” with “males can access female sports, prisons, homeless shelters, and locker rooms” we are doomed to wander in the wilderness.

The United States is about to choose between two drastically different futures. One is too abhorrent for even the most dystopian imaginations at WIRED to contemplate. wired.trib.al/cKi7rxM

Presidents do not have to be saints, and we hope that a second term for Donald Trump would avoid disaster. But he poses an unacceptable risk to America and the world. If The Economist had a vote, we would cast it for Kamala Harris econ.st/3NKsH2r

for yrs, the Dem party has appeared from the outside to be stuck in a perpetually reactive state of gridlock—always reacting to any & every manufactured culture war or seemingly ceding ground to the Republican or conservative outrage of the week/month/year

Can anyone give me an example of someone who makes a dumb point but thinks it's a smart one because they declare that the obvious counterexample is off-limits for no reason?
And no, Adam McKay doesn't count.

Here’s the thing: Eric Trump is a stupid bozo. He’s also correct on this issue, one that 90% of people agree on. When libs decide it’s too hard to take the obvious stand here, then you allow the Eric Trumps of this world an open goal to be more correct than you. That’s bad.

your understanding of the world will improve drastically if you stop thinking of prices as things that individuals decide and instead think of them as the emergent outcome of natural, inexorable laws of nature.

My first PhD paper!🎉We learn *diffusion* models for code generation that learn to directly *edit* syntax trees of programs. The result is a system that can incrementally write code, see the execution output, and debug it. 🧵1/n

I went to an anti-israel protest and got the palestinian perspective. This surprised me because I’m a large infant, mewling and blinking and pissing myself, shocked by barest facts of the world

JOE BIDEN COULD DEMAND A CEASEFIRE
But he hasn't, because he thinks being a "war president" will boost his sagging poll numbers.
Bottom line: Dem and GOP leaders are enabling the brutal collective punishment being inflicted on #Gaza.
Another reason to end the duopoly.
President Biden let the country and the world down with an address to the American people that can only be characterized as a declaration of war. He refuses to listen to people in his own party like @CoriBush and @RashidaTlaib, nor millions of everyday folk like @jvplive calling for a #ceasefire and an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestine.

You visit a town with exactly 1,000 families. Each family has exactly two children. On the street, your tour guide points to a passing man and boy and says, "That's Mr. Smith and his son." With only that information, what is the probability that Mr. Smith's other child is a boy?
