Thank you Aimé Césaire for articulating this in 1950. I get to go insane seeing dumb fucking tweets about this every day 75 years later.
Replying to @Undorkins @joewrote
And your still be bitching about dead kids in the Middle East while your neighbors get rounded up because you don’t understand how American politics works.

Saudi Arabia is Israel's strongest Iron Dome and its strongest line of defense. The fall and collapse of Saudi Arabia means the liberation of Palestine.

"I don't understand why they're pushing AI so hard when we can all see it's making everything worse." That's because it's not being marketed to you; it's being marketed to governments and plutocrats. They're the real target audience for these products, not you. You are not receiving the real sales pitch for AI, because the real sales pitch would not appeal to your sensibilities. The real sales pitch for AI isn't "Hey check out this product, it makes some web searches slightly easier and it can maybe write your emails for you." The real sales pitch for AI is "This product allows you to surveil the entire population of your country. It can be built into autonomous surveillance drones and killing machines. It can allow you to monitor and control every aspect of your society. It can reverse the decentralization of information brought on by the internet age. It can take away the collective bargaining power of workers and give you the skilled services your company requires. It can nullify strikes, civil disobedience, and even full-scale revolutions, and lock humanity into your capitalist dystopia forever." That's the real sales pitch. It doesn't sound appealing to any normal person, but it makes sense when you remember who these technologies are really being sold to, and why.

Canada is absent, missing in action. No surprise.
HAPPENING NOW Dockworkers are taking action across all six inhabited continents in a historic day of strikes against war, the arms trade and labour exploitation.

Ben always omits the context: the fastest global warming in Earth's history and rapid mass extinction caused by capitalist era policies. Ben is in denial.
This El Niño has now set ocean temperature records for 150+ days straight. Average temperatures in the central equatorial Pacific Ocean have reached 86.4°F (30.2°C), while maximum temperatures have climbed to 88.8°F (31.6°C). But this El Niño is about more than just numbers 🧵

The Chinese Revolution was not clean. Nothing that emerges from a century of colonial humiliation, decades of civil war, and the specific conditions of mid-20th century China was going to be clean. The deaths were real. The coercion was real. The suppression of dissent, the destruction of the Cultural Revolution, the specific and irreplaceable things that were lost: these are real and they matter, and the Chinese people who lived through them are not plot devices in anyone’s geopolitical story. But here is the other truth, the one that sits alongside it: China is not a colony. China was not carved into spheres of influence for the convenience of foreign capital. China was not kept poor and dependent and "open" in the specific way that "open" means when powerful countries say it about weaker ones. China made its own catastrophic decisions, on its own terms, and rebuilt from them on its own terms. That sovereignty, costly, contested, imperfect, real, is what the revolution purchased. Whether the price was worth it is a question the Chinese people get to answer. Not the people who were planning to own the country. Not the people who are still angry that they don’t.

The answer with software is open source, not "switching to China."
Every country that doesn't want to experience infrastructure collapse and nonstop large scale catastrophes in the coming years must switch to Chinese equipment and software NOW, and use top-of-the-line Chinese cyber security products. Every software and hardware product in the West is compromised, contaminated and a tragedy waiting for the right command, on top of being a spying device with potential debilitating consequences. Every bank, electrical grid, hospital, police or fire department, every piece of machinery, every supposed secure network, controller and sensor, every canera, every organizational software in the West, is fully transparent and monitored 24/7. All of it. It can and will be used against you. It is already being used against you. Act now. This should an urgent priority for virtually every country on the planet. We are headed into a period of constant manufactured disasters which will last potentially a decade or more. Humanity doesn't understand yet what it did to itself, but it will

western chauvinism is crazy because your entire society is run by landlords pedophiles and religious fanatics, you can do nothing to stop them, they have stalled progress in your country for generations, yet somehow you still have the temerity to call other leaders "dictators"

"without killing upwards of 30 million of them." Because you lot didn't classify Black people as full people. America and the European powers have caused more death than we can ever calculate.
Many Western nations managed to "uplift farmers and the working class" without killing upwards of 30 million of them. We did this, generally, without empowering student mobs to trash all the history we now claim we're proud of, and without massacring the wealthy and the educated on the altar of cultural revolution. One of the many ironies of the modern Chinese nationalist is that, were it not for generals countermanding the Red Guard, the evidence they claim for their greatness would have been totally destroyed by Mao's own faction. We have no equivalent of Mao's campaign against the Four Olds, having largely gotten over iconoclastic religious hysteria in medieval times. We never went around killing sparrows to avert famine (which caused a surge in locusts that made famine worse) — of all our many retarded leaders, none have been so retarded as that. Our war heroes did not hide in mountains waiting for the Kuomintang to do all their fighting for them, only to emerge and claim credit after the fact. The Communists are not war heroes. They drove the war heroes out of the country they fought to save. We have managed to make modern nations of citizens, not subjects; and our technological prowess today is the product of invention, not theft. We have empowered our ethnic and religious minorities, almost to a fault, while the Chinese government locks them up in camps that we consider horrors. As is usually the case, Communist doctrines of "colonialism" and "imperialism" - the latter a Leninist propaganda trick designed to save Marxism from all its failed predictions - are spread today to spare Communism the shame of its own deeds. And we are able (and even encouraged) to criticise our most important leaders and heroes, while the Communist Party apparatchik must debase his own intellect before he is allowed to speak. China does have a rich and wonderful history. Mao created none of it, and destroyed much of it. The fat ass of his legacy squats on what remains.
