Big change for student loan borrowers: The Education Department has proposed a legal settlement that would end the SAVE repayment plan.
If approved by the courts, the settlement will require that no new borrowers are enrolled in the SAVE program, which based monthly bills on borrowers' incomes and was hailed by the Biden administration as the most affordable student loan repayment option in history.

🚨 BREAKING: CNN correspondent reports a shutdown-ending deal has been reached, with at least 8 Senate Democrats agreeing to the terms.
The deal includes a commitment to hold a future vote on extending Affordable Care Act subsidies — but it does not guarantee those subsidies will be approved. Progressive lawmakers, including Senator Bernie Sanders, have strongly advocated against the measure, warning the agreement gives up leverage without securing key social spending protections.
