Throwback to the Price @ReloadHornady Precision Hunter @nrlhunter match last season.
It’s fun to look back at matches shot even just a handful of months ago. I feel like Clark and I have improved a lot since then.
For example, our communication is much better now. We no longer say things like “left edge” and instead give direct measurements in mils.
Also can’t imagine going back to a brake. Somehow Clark put up with getting blasted by it for a couple matches. Now we both run Thunder Beast Magnus-s-RR cans. Wayy better than the concussion of a brake.
If you haven't tried an NRL Hunter match, you've got to give it a shot! Our first match for the 2027 season is going to be Dorgan’s San De Cristo Rendezvous in Raton, NM. It's a fun match at a really cool venue.

📢 2027 NRL HUNTER RULES ARE HERE!

Some fun shots from the 2026 NRL Hunter season
The fun thing about this clip was how I edited it.
I tried out @mikeysee’s Tandem video editing app. I basically gave it my folder of unedited shooting clips and told it to pick a handful of cool ones with both the DJI third-person cam and first-person scope cam. It synced them up, added some labels, made the scope cam overlays, etc.
Pretty impressed! Just a couple back and forth exchanges with codex and out popped a video!
My shooting partner Clark running Stage 16 at the Laramie NRL Hunter match earlier this season. 2 turkey targets at about 526 and 515 yards from 2 positions.
This clip is from the largest, fastest-growing, and most popular find, range, and engage style long range shooting competition called NRL Hunter.
We shoot in the teams division where we have 6 minutes to find our targets, range them, and engage them. Stages can be set up in three different configurations: 1 Target from 4 positions, 2 targets from 2 positions, and 4 targets from 1 position. A first round impact is 2 points and you move to the next target/position. If you miss, you can take a follow up shot worth one point. Either way you move to the next target or position after that shot. Max of 8 points on a stage for individuals and 16 for teams (both have to shoot).
The Buffalo Bills Revenge match near Laramie, WY hosted was my favorite match last season. The terrain is incredible with lots of cool natural props to shoot from, tricky winds, and a really fun course of fire (usually has amazing food too). We’ll definitely be shooting it in the 2027 season.
If you want to try out the sport, go to NRLHunter.org and view the 2-day Hunter schedule and the 1-day Games (basically the same, but single day more relaxed matches) matches. Games matches are added all the time, so keep an eye out. It’s the most fun you’ll ever have with a rifle.

~10” square at ~526yds off a tripod.
Clark and I have improved in a lot of ways since the Price NRL Hunter match back in June. We still need to work on our tripod shooting though. It’s a big focus of our training during the off-season.
Best change I made following this match was going suppressed with a Thunder Beast Magnus-S-RR. I do not miss the concussion of a brake.
Can’t wait for next season. Schedule is coming out soon!
In the meantime, get signed up for our 1-day NRL Hunter Games match at Cameo on November 28th. Only a few spots left!

This was a fun stage (15) from the Grand Slam season finale match in Clovis, NM. A ram a bit past 700 yards from 4 positions.
Clark and I are still deciding on our gear and setup for next season.
A few things are settled though:
• 6.5 creedmoor → .25 WAP (ackley improved 25 creed)
• Pure Precision SKLTN actions
• Thunderbeast Magnus-S-RR suppressors with RecoilX brakes
• @MDTTAC Ckye-pod Triple Pull Bipods
• Armageddon Gear Game changer shooting bags - Schmedium with heavy fill
• SG Pulse Pro Levels
• @Eberlestock new Prowl packs
• Ten Second Precision data sleeves
• Short Bus Precision Talking Timers (shortbusprecision.com/produc…)
The rest is still TBD.
Testing out some new LRFs, tripods, barrels, scopes, and chassis. We’ll see!

Fun stage from the @nrlhunter Grand Slam 2026 finale match. We had to find a bobcat and engage it from 4 positions. Ended up finding it at about 620 yards.
This stage was a nice reprieve from some of the other stages. The target was pretty easy to find, the positions were simple and there wasn’t much wind. Was nice to stack up some points on this one. Most of the stages at the match were far less forgiving.
Clark and I started recording these videos for ourselves and they started taking off on social. We like doing them because we learn a lot watching ourselves. I notice mistakes I make in every video I post. Hopefully sharing our competition journey on here helps you and perhaps inspires some of you to try out the sport.
