ICP Founder Says AI, Not Quantum Computing, Is Crypto’s Real Threat
The founder of Internet Computer (@Dfinity) believes AI recently disproved the Exponential Time Hypothesis, long considered true.
The core algorithms aren't in danger for now, but Dominic sees this as clear proof that AI could change the playing field for crypto.
The criticism targets chains using "quantum-safe" signatures. Practical quantum computing is still years away, and their usage is expected to be very limited.
The warning is that complex new algorithms could contain devastating bugs. In fact, AI has already identified vulnerabilities in HAWK, a quantum-safe algorithm that NIST withdrew.
ICP will not participate in the "post-quantum mania".

Two days on stage and in the room, plus a full feature in the State of AI 2026 report. The write-up covers Cloud Engines: enterprises picking their own nodes, open-source stacks without hidden kill switches, and software AI can update at conversation speed because it’s tamperproof.
Nine in ten organizations use AI. Fewer than half have scaled it. The report’s conclusion points at infrastructure — capital, compute, energy, governance. That’s the exact gap this stack is built for.
DFINITY was in attendance at the Dubai AI Festival, over the last two days.

Pakistan and DFINITY are back at the table, this time over AI
Pakistan Digital Authority (@digitalauthpk) chair Dr. Sohail Munir (@sohailmunir) met in Dubai today with @dfinity founder Dominic Williams (@dominic_w) and business chief Pierre Samaties (@PierreSamaties). They discussed setting up a sovereign AI factory to build software for Pakistan’s public sector and deploy it on the PDA Cloud Engine. Williams said the talks also covered the next phases of that Internet Computer ($ICP) cloud engine.
It is the second meeting between the two this year. In February they signed a non-binding agreement for a Pakistan subnet on the Internet Computer, with 1,500 licenses for DFINITY’s AI coding tool Caffeine. In August, the UN Development Program and DFINITY launched a sovereign AI pilot for five countries, building on the Pakistan work.
