On Friday, we joined @KAFSCNY annual Silent March Against Domestic Violence.
As October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we honor and uplift the voice of survivors, remember those we lost, and call for an end to domestic violence.

After years of hard work and advocacy, the Community Opportunity to Purchase Act (COPA) has passed the City Council!
Certain nonprofits and community land trusts will soon have the first opportunity to purchase at-risk apartment buildings when the landlord decides to sell.
This will help preserve and expand affordable housing and increase tenant protections.
Thank you to @CMSandyNurse for her sponsorship and the @NYCCLI coalition for their tireless work to get COPA passed.
We look forward to seeing COPA signed into law!
We had a great time tabling at the annual WEPA! Festival this weekend. Thank you to El Puente for inviting us and for always putting on a great event!
Thank you to @WoodsideMoves, @stnicksalliance, @UnitedNeighborO, @SenGonzalezNY, @EmilyAssembly, @CMRestler, and @CMSandyNurse for partnering with us this week.

Our survey found broad backing for COPA across NYC. Intro 905 would give qualified nonprofits a chance to buy buildings when they go up for sale, helping move distressed units away from speculators to preserve affordable housing. The Council must pass it!

October 1st through May 31st marks "heat season."
During this period, landlords are legally required to provide heat and hot water to tenants.
Specifically, the heat must be set at or above 68 degrees when the temperature falls below 55 degrees between 6am and 10pm, and set at least 62 degrees, regardless of the temperature outside, between 10pm and 6am.
