As I watched the comments of “regular German people”, I couldn’t help it as my mine drifted to one of the favorite books that was discussed in a history class while I was in college. A must read for anyone who needs to have insight as to Germany at the end of World War II. “It’s time we had Aryan blood leading Germany!” Was the theme. The AfD, (Alternative for Germany), right wing political party secured 20.4% of the vote, in the past weekends general elections in Germany. The AdF’s theme was anti-immigrant. Sort of “Germany is for Germans. They are let by a man named Ulrich Siegmund. He looks a bit like a former man who led Germany. To know how emboldened he feels, he’s already followed Trump, in that he wants to eliminate members of the press, namely, broadcasters called ARD and ZDF. (This would be the same as when Trump defunded PBS and NPR.. Excep Sigmund want to ELIMINATE any form of public broadcasting. To show he’s not really a bad guy, Herr Sigmund told a joke: “We all know that feeling — you sit on a train and hope that no radical Christian sits down next to you.” It’s not a secret that these far right, fascist parties in Germany, as well as France and Italy have been emboldened by what has gone on in The United States. These once strong American allies, now view us differently than they once did. It’s not been lost on the people and leaders of these countries that we have a leader who is at best an authoritarian. At worst he’s a fascist: Dare we use the other “N” word and not be far off? The fact that he is of pure Aryan blood, shouldn’t be lost on us.
