This is easy for me from July to early end of October - I live on the edge of Canada's richest soil & only 4 blocks from the farmers market. I'll eat carrots only now when they are freshest - plus so many other veg.

95 kilograms โ that was Roman Horilykโs weight when he was taken prisoner. 50 kilograms โ that was all he weighed when he returned home 27 months later.
The 42-year-old National Guardsman from Ukraineโs Chernihiv region endured Russian captivity, starvation, torture, extreme exhaustion, and life without proper medical care.
Roman fell into Russian hands in March 2022. He returned home only in May 2024, after 27 months in captivity.
Once a strong man, he lost nearly half his body weight. A photograph of an emaciated Roman after his release spread around the world, becoming a horrifying testament to what Ukrainian POWs endure in Russian captivity.
But captivity did not break him.
Roman gradually began to recover. Kilogram by kilogram, his strength returned. Today, he weighs more than 80 kilograms and has one goal โ to return to service.
He has only one year until retirement and wants to spend it in uniform, alongside his brothers-in-arms.
Roman calls the day of his release his second birthday. Until the last moment, he did not know he was going home.
In his cell, Roman heard Russian guards reading the names of Ukrainian National Guardsmen who had served at Chornobyl. His name was among them.
The prisoners were forced to record a propaganda video claiming they had no complaints against Russia. Then came bound hands, a bag over his head, and a journey whose destination Roman could only guess.
โIt was terrifying. They told us a plane carrying our guys had crashed. But through the bag, I could see the sun and clouds. Then I realized โ we were landing. This was a prisoner exchange.โ
And then โ Ukraine.
In the Sumy region, people came out to welcome them, offering water, candy, and chocolate. Simple things, but after 27 months behind bars, they proved something far more important: people had been waiting for him. He had not been forgotten.
Roman is home. But thousands of Ukrainian defenders remain behind Russian bars.
Behind every one is a story, a family, and people waiting for their return.
We must fight for every Ukrainian warrior until they come home.
We do not forget our own. We do not leave our own behind.

If youโre a farmer, most of your fuel is already tax-free red-dye stuff (for farm equipment). This means you can now put it in your on-road truck, if you know where the pumps are and if you arenโt worried that 6 months or a year from now youโll fail a red-dye test.

Mary appears to people. Jesus almost never does.
Thatโs what makes today so important.
Lourdes. Fatima. Guadalupe. Mary comes again and again, always pointing us to her Son.
But in 1931, in a small convent in Poland, Jesus came Himself.
He appeared to a sister named Faustina.
A poor farm girl with little formal education. A woman given ordinary work in the kitchen and at the convent gate.
And He gave her a mission:
Tell the world about My mercy.
Not someday. Now.
He asked for an image bearing five words: Jesus, I trust in You.
He gave her the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, the Hour of Mercy at 3 oโclock, and a feast on the Sunday after Easter.
Faustina died on this day in 1938. She was 33.
Then the devotion faced a painful setback. Rome restricted it in 1959, and those restrictions were not lifted until 1978. A young bishop from Krakรณw named Karol Wojtyลa helped advance her cause. He later became Pope John Paul II, canonized Faustina, and established Divine Mercy Sunday for the whole Church.
The message she was given is still before us:
Jesus is rich in mercy. Trust Him.

Pope Leo XIVโs top ally in Washington Cardinal Robert McElroy has told Catholics to convert the politicians who tolerate Trumpโs war on immigrants โor replace them.โ
โWe must stop, recognize the evil that is being carried out in our name and fight every dimension of it.โ
He was met with a standing ovation.
This is the beginning of the horror show I lived through when my father died & mother had dementia. Sisters decided I & another sister could not see our mother - closeted her away in a locked ward, we knew not where.
That kind of behaviour must never be forgiven.

as I'm not on the list of contacts. I know my sister made that list & she's leaving tomorrow for a 2wk holiday & it's ridiculous she won't let me inquire about my mother's health. She put her daughter,my niece as the primary contact.
I did have a nice conversation with my mom.
