Hello everyone, hoping you, your families, and friends are healthy, and remain vibrant during these difficult and strange times. As you can imagine, nothing about this ordeal has made anything easier for OOM.
There is hope with the caveat of having generous storage options, that the collection can go into hibernation while our world gradually settles into its new normal, and possibly have a not-too-distant-future-life in partnership with more profitable entities. – at Chicago, IL
We‘re sad to announce we have to shutter the shop, as ownership & management cannot continue to cover the losses, nor ask for patrons to bear more weight supporting Odd Obs in a volunteer-staffed iteration which has proven unsustainable for the bulk of our 16+ year existence. – at Chicago, IL
After our campaign fell short an investor commitment we had ended on shaky legs from divided visions, & regrettably divisive actions at the shop. We‘d hoped something could be figured out, but the above, coupled w shutdown, delivered a conclusive verdict for the time being... – at Chicago, IL

So @oddobsession's 35mm screening of THIEF at @musicboxtheatre was pretty damn kickass.
Who would have thought, right?
Thanks to everyone who came to one of the SOLD OUT showings of Michael Mann's THIEF!
We're hoping to bring you more film screenings soon, so keep an eye out. 👀
Due to my work schedule, I don’t get out to as many rep screenings at @musicboxtheatre as I’d like, but I’m glad I made a point to get out to Michael Mann’s THIEF last night. Thanks to @vishnevetsky, @workhusband, and @oddobsession for bringing it to Chicago.

The existence of all-you-can-eat buffets doesn't mean people no longer hunger for fine dining or unique cuisine from elsewhere. Video stores feed the cinematically curious and courageous, and always will 🖤 #LongLiveDeadMedia smh.com.au/culture/movies/ta…
There are still some tickets available for tomorrow's 9:45 showing, so grab yours now!

Michael Mann's first film, Thief, is playing TWICE at the Music Box Theatre on Tuesday. Great movie. Great Chicago locations.

"The film canon, film history, is constantly being rewritten; what's a classic film and what needs to be rewatched from 60 years ago is always being decided, and I think we lose track of that with streaming." Food for thought from down under via @SMH. smh.com.au/culture/movies/ta…
