As a kid, I always thought this album cover was crazy. When I learned later that it was a callback to Funkadelic's "Maggot Brain," I became even more appreciative of the psychedelic soundscape crafted by Reggie Noble as Funk Doctor Spock. Redman deserves more credit as a producer
It’s Halloween, so let’s talk about the ever-controversial Horrorcore. Popularized by Flatlinerz and Gravediggaz, its origins are debated. Some say Geto Boys and Ganxsta NIP set the stage, while others credit Esham or Kool Keith.
Horrorcore didn't end in the 90s, and Hip-Hop should always be a space for free expression. Now, some of it is executed in poor taste but I guess that's kind of the point. 🤷♂️
