The Camavinga I’m watching for France under Zidane is a completely different player from the one I’ve been criticising at Real Madrid all season. He looks more energetic, much better on the ball and far more confident. Honestly, I’m loving what I’m seeing. It’s one of those situations where a player looks like a completely different footballer for his national team compared to his club. And that makes me question whether the environment at Real Madrid or José Mourinho’s tactical approach is limiting him. Because one thing is clear: there is still a very good player in Camavinga. Whatever has been going wrong at club level, this France performance is a reminder that the quality is still there. This is the Camavinga I expected to see.

Zidane at 54 and the first touch is still cleaner than half the league 😳🔥 Age is just a number. Zizou’s first touch in 2026 says otherwise. 54 years old and he still makes it look effortless. Pure class.

A football analyst said Portugal have one of the three best squads in Europe, and honestly, I don’t think that take is far from reality. Just watch Portugal play. They’re complete in almost every area. The defence looks much more solid, the midfield is stacked with quality, and the attack has real chemistry. João Félix is in top form, Bruno Fernandes is finding his rhythm, and Portugal have quality options everywhere. I genuinely wouldn’t be surprised if Portugal win the Nations League or even go all the way at the Euros. The biggest obstacle? Spain. Right now, Spain are the team I’d put above everyone else.

Gonçalo Ramos scores to put Portugal ahead of Norway, making it four wins from four and three consecutive games with a goal for Ramos. Portugal are doing just fine without Cristiano Ronaldo, exactly as I’ve been saying. They have way too much quality to suddenly become a bad team without him. And as a Ronaldo fan, I’m genuinely happy to see Ramos taking his opportunity. You can love Ronaldo and still admit that 41-year-old Ronaldo isn’t currently better than the Gonçalo Ramos we’re seeing right now. This is exactly why I’ve advocated for Ronaldo to retire after the World Cup. At some point, you have to pass the torch and allow the next generation to take over. Portugal are flying. Four wins from four. Perfect international break.

When I compared Lamine Yamal and Michael Olise, a lot of people insulted me without understanding the actual point. Olise is a calculated player. He picks his moments, manages risk and usually plays within his rhythm. Yamal can do that too, but he can also become a force of nature. He can go directly at defenders, force the issue and make an entire defence uncomfortable. That versatility is what separates them for me. You can see it with Spain too. Yamal plays more controlled because De la Fuente’s Spain prioritises control and possession. At Barcelona under Flick, he gets more freedom to express himself and attack aggressively. Olise doesn’t really have that same explosive gear. He can explode when the game demands it, but his natural game is more calculated. Against Italy, France needed someone who could relentlessly attack the defence and force something to happen. Olise kept dropping deep and trying to orchestrate instead. That’s why I say Yamal is more efficient. Yamal can give you what Olise gives you and then add another dimension. Olise can’t consistently give you what Yamal gives you. In terms of pure quality, they’re comparable and you can make arguments for either. But in terms of versatility and efficiency, I’m taking Yamal.
